In an attempt to look out for the health and well-being of our membership as well as trying to stay in step with CDC’s and our state’s recommendations, we have decided to cancel our upcoming guild meeting on Tuesday, March 17th.

While a disappointment, we do want to do our part in helping. Thanks for your understanding.

Next meeting is Tuesday November 19th 7pm to 9pm. This meeting is our annual sharpening workshop. Bring your chisels, planes, scrapers, turning tools and other hand tools to learn sharpening skills and leave with your tools as sharp as possible. We'll be using wet stones, scary sharp, WorkSharp, grinders, and diamond stones. Meetings are open to guests and visitors and are held at the Dewitt Memorial Building at 206 W Washington St. in DeWitt Mi.

Next meeting will be Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 7:00pm in the Dewitt Memorial Building (east room) located at 206 W Washington St. in Dewitt, MI.

Featured presenter will be from Capital Tool Grinding. He will talk about sharpening and maintaining carbide, high speed steel, and tool steel blades and bits. They have been in business since 1948 and have become the go-to sharpening shop for businesses and hobbyists alike.

Guests are always welcome, no need to join before attending a meeting. Hope to see you there.

A little Christmas gift for my son Michael and the story behind it. The bottle of Crown Royal was given to my dad when he retired from General Motors 27 years ago. Dad's friend Mark gave it to him with the understanding that the bottle would not be opened until Mark retired a few years later. Mark retired but the toast to their friendship and many years working together never happened, at least not from this particular bottle. So for 26 years the bottle sat on display unopened. Upon dad's passing, the bottle was passed on to Michael and at his request I built the case. It is made of Oak with Wenge inlay.

The poker table measures 58" in diameter. The outer ring has double density foam for super comfortable armrest. The LED lights around the playing field run on a rechargeable battery and can be dimmed. The suited speed felt is water proof and I used closed cell padding under it so so you get that perfect chip bounce, like the casinos. The custom fitted Oak table top gives this table double duty. Made of Oak and finished clear to let the wood character show through.
