The Metta Sanctuary is a Holistic, Intentional, Vegan Housing Community that was created in April 2019 at its 1st original location in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, NYC (close to 600 Monroe Street). Located on a tree-lined street this historic brownstone features 3 full floors with original early century detail, high ceilings, fire places (non working), 7 private bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 2 full kitchens,
2 communal spaces, a large sunlit private garden facing South/East, brick walls, a laundry room with a new washer and dryer (complimentary use for all members), hardwood floors, clawfoot bath tubs, deep European bath tubs, mosaic tiles, solar paneled sky lights, chandeliers, original wood shutters, large French Style windows boasting an abundance of light and a laundry room with new washer and dryer. The house comes fully furnished with beautiful brand new furniture, super comfy Green Tea and LinenSpa beds, cruelty-free pillows & comforters, linens, iron, washer, dryer, a fully stocked kitchen with oven, stove, dishwasher, fridge, coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, silverware, glassware, pots, pans and more. Community members have the choice to form a committee with assigned leadership roles for each member and the ability to mutually agree on hosting vegan plant-based conscious events (up to 30 ppl) such as dinners, garden gatherings, nutritional/cooking classes, art exhibits, yoga classes, cacao ceremonies, healing sessions, sound baths, book circles, immersive theatre, film screenings, talks, lectures, barter exchanges and more (all contingent upon owner approval). This home welcomes all beings regardless of their gender identification, social identification, race, age and sexual orientation. All who are kind, conscious, compassionate, mindful, respectful, open minded and open hearted qualify to become a member of this house. All animals are VIPs in this house regardless of their breed and size, as long as they are 1) adopted/rescued and not bought 2) not captivated (tanks, chains, kept in closed rooms) 3) are house trained 4) are compatible with animals and humans 5) their parents comply with laws (e.g. no wildlife, captured animals) and 6) are allowed to roam freely throughout the house by their parents. The Metta Sanctuary is a fully vegan home that solely allows cruelty-free vegan products in the property (no animal products, such as meat, fish, dairy, no products tested on animals). The house offers an ideal environment for non-vegans to transition to a vegan life style if that is what they strive to do and lack the proper support in their current home and environment. Not suitable for those who are sensitive and prone to animal/other allergies.
100% of all Net rental income (after mortgage, taxes, insurance, expenses) will go towards vegan, conscious, healing projects in Greece and the USA that strive to rescue abused animals, abandoned children and family-less seniors, as well as empower all humans to step into their power and embrace living an abundant, purposeful, meaningful, compassionate, self-actualizing, free, peaceful, healthy and deeply joyful life. Rents range from $850-$1,500 per month and include FIOS Wifi, Electricity, Gas, Heat, AC, Hot & Cold Water. Complimentary Washer and Dryer in the Building.
