Hey everyone, update from the hobby hut!

Sorry for the long read but want to make sure I cover everything for the new season coming up. If you got a table last year, please check it over, especially if it sat snow covered. Most polyurethane and Thompson's water seal can need a fresh coat every year or two. Contact me if you have questions.

Weather is warming and it's time to make my neighbors stare again. Picnic table and bench orders opening now! I will not be posting to marketplace until end of the week, I'm letting everyone who follows this page know first so you get first opportunity to order. I will be getting started this week once our lows look to be above freezing at night.

I have upgraded a lot of equipment and spent a lot of time trying to improve my skill and knowledge to improve quality and appearance. While my goal is still to offer the quality rustic style for a good price, the goal is for it to be on your porch or patio for many years, so I have a post pinned on care and maintenance.

All tables are secured with galvanized carriage bolts and deck screws. They are very solid. My 95 lb wife sits on every one to test it🤣.

As for wood burn, I can do any level of darkness you want. From dragon scale char to light surface burn, your choice. Pics show differences, and I have samples. Each board is burned individually prior to assembly.

All edges and corners are softened for safety. Tables are sanded to minimum 320 grit, with focus on tabletop and seats being nice and smooth.

Here are the base prices for the tables and benches. All pricing includes table burn and includes Thompsons Water Seal. Polyurethane or varnish is $50 using varathane ultimate spar urethane. It offers good UV protection. I apply the finish prior to assembly so every bit of every board is coated. Then a final coat once it is assembled.

I do require 1/2 up front before I get started. This isn't negotiable, I have to cover cost of material. Everything I do is to order, I typically have no stock. This is a hobby that I do from my garage, not a corner market with a little barn.

I normally use douglas fir 2x6 and pine 2x4(in prices below). If this will be on the grass or gravel direct, I can use treated wood for the legs for extra durability. Oak, cedar or other woods are available, but my material sources are mostly retail right now, just being up front. Get with me and I can get an answer fast.

4' Picnic table -$200
6' Picnic table-$250
8' Picnic table-$300
Bigger than 8', contact me for a price.

End bench for picnic tables(prices with burn and poly finish)-$50 for one and $75 for two
*$40 for one or $60 for 2 with table purchase.

2x6 8" long picnic table dolly with wheels(2)- $40. One under each leg of one end and you can lift other end and roll the table around. A life saver for me moving them around. I use them by myself, I'm not known for my personal safety, but for safety reasons it is safer and recommended to have 2 people to place these under the legs.

Bench

5' bench 2x4 frame, 1x4(yellow pine) seat/back and 1x6 armrests-$175

Add cupholder cutout (1/2" deep by 2.5" round) on 1x6 armrests, with drain hole-$20

Also,
I can do custom engraving and inlays type stuff, just reach out if you are wanting something custom and hopefully we can come to a price we are both happy with. If it is something I am not comfortable doing, I will tell you straight out and refer you to someone if I can. This is a hobby, I work within my skillset and knowledge. I do also make picture frames, jewelry boxes and items like that, on request.

I'm very open to working with anyone to get the table built how they want, the main thing I ask is to come get it once it is done. Space gets limited and I do not have a way to deliver at this time so holding tables limits work I can do for others.

As always, 10% of my profits goes to Broken Warrior Ranch and I still plan to keep the Tables for Vets program going. If you know of a Veteran based facility or charity in need of a bench or table, get with me. I do what I can based on financial ability.

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, and for your support. Have an awesome day!

Got the bandsaw working right and now working on some cool bandsaw boxes. Using extras to make other cool things.

Thinking bartenders, and others, might like these bottle openers. Handmade from hardwoods, ones in pics are ash and working on some curly maple ones too.

Wood is all one piece and is sanded and finished with food safe teak oil finish. No clue on pricing but figure $25 is a good start spot.(?) Can make with any wood you requested, but you may pay mote for expensive woods.

Any orders will be started after Chili Bowl ends on the 17th. Haven't built any stock on these yet.

Disclaimer: The knuckles are for grip when opening many bottles like bartenders do, not a weapon for evil 🤣

Still have some final touches to do, but happy with it so far. She said she is redoing the eyes so they don't have the Norman Bates theme.🤣

23" wide, 10" deep and 11" tall. Beachwood with epoxy finish and epoxy river. Bears are painted and sealed. They will be hot glued to the bench so they are secure but removable. This will be on marketplace in a few days, just not sure where to put the pricing yet.

A sneak peak at some upcoming projects that combine my woodwork with the wife's ceramic painting. Current piece will be available on Marketplace once completed.

This bench is made for these bears and will sit on a live edge basswood piece with an epoxy stream running in front of the bench. Bench is made from curly maple, oak and purple heart woods. Also building little live edge bird feeder and other decor for the layout.

Pics with dog on it are are just for visual, thinking of making a "dog throne" for him to sit in. Maybe a sized to fit version of the game of thrones iron throne chair out of wood.

Now that everyone has gotten their gifts I can share some of the orders I've gotten to fill lately.

Stash boxes are purple heart wood with Baltic birch slider lids(curly maple splines).

First jewelry box is cherry wood sides and back, with curly maple and purple heart lid. Tray is cherry wood.

Second jewelry box is a mix of curly maple and hard maple. It has no tray as it was bought for a woman's wallet to go in.

Update from the Hobby Hut.

First, Merry Christmas! Wishing safe travels and fun times for all.

Been staying busy with Christmas orders, but won't be sharing pics of any builds until after so I don't ruin surprises.

My wife has started doing ceramic painting and we are looking to combine our work for some cool things.

I'm about 10 days out on any orders, and not doing any picnic tables until spring time.

I am semi looking at laser engravers(30watt+), if you know of one for sell for a decent price, let me know. Also looking for some feedback from anyone who's used them frequently. Prefer used due to budget.

The Tables for Vets program is still going, I just haven't had time this month. If you know of a Veteran organization that is need of benches, picnic tables or other woodwork stuff, let me know. I enjoy dedicating time each month to build at least one, as money allows.

Thanks for supporting all we do! And, as a reminder, 10% of the profit goes to Broken Warrior Ranch.

Have an awesome week!

Just finished up the last picnic table till spring time. This 8' table was challenging to finish with the cold weather, but got it done.

I've got a couple of benches to do still, then a ton of Christmas gift orders to build. If you want frames, jewelry boxes or anything of that type, let me know. For winter my focus will be on smaller items I can do indoors.

Happy Thanksgiving yall! Hope you have safe travels, hearty meals and amazing memories with your loved ones.

This is seriously one of the builds I will always consider a tremendous honor to get to do.

These silks are from the Korean War. They were given to a brother, a Korean War Veteran, for his 94th birthday.

Small one, the blood chit, is 8.5"x11", and the map is 32"x37". Overall frame sizes are about 2.5" larger than silks. Map is mounted on a mat backboard on 1x2 frame, then inset into the cedar frame. Wrinkles will settle in time, I wasn't going to risk the silks with steaming or anything.

Used cedar wood for the framing, with sanding sealer and polyurethane finish.

Getting to frame a part of history is awesome.

Working on a project for a brother who is a Korean War Veteran. First piece is done, the "blood chit". Aviators carried this to communicate with friendlies in case they were shot down.

Still have the aviator map to frame, will post once it is done.

To all who served our great nation, thank you!
