Finally got around to reorganizing my clamps and put up this French cleat wall. Now I can make custom holders and move them anywhere. Next shop might get a whole wall of French cleats

I know I’ve posted about my day job before but for those still interested, I finally finished my part in the building of a 378,000 sqft, 5-story office building for AmeriHealth Caritas in Newtown Square, PA. Feel free to look up the project on my company’s website www.Norwoodco.com. I was part of a team who accomplished the largest project in our companies history and I was instrumental in overseeing the structure and facade portions as well as the tenant improvement portion. Our team can attest but it was a loooong 2.5 year journey and I’m happy to move on, but it was an exciting part of my life.

Had a little mishap in the kitchen this morning, a knife decided it wanted to meet my pointer finger in an unfortunate way. So today I’m doing computer work, new plans for a customers walnut bed frame. Stay tuned for more updates!

Walnut live edge bench is done! Really pleased with how this came out, the graining is beautiful and really pops. .belletti honey do list is almost done! And of course the foreman had to stop by to inspect...

Got myself a new set of DMT sharpening plates. DMT is a drug...I mean is basically just super sharp cutting stones at a microscopic level that virtually never wear out! Not terribly pricey but definitely is an investment. Sharpening video to come? Definitely not an instructional video

Had a little oops to fix on the coffee table. There are many many ways to fix little dents and scratches but this dent qas pretty deep. You can see in the first picture I wet the surface a few times with water, not soaking but just to let the wood fibers swell up. Then I left a damp rag on it and warmed that up with the heat gun to help speed up the process, warm water usually works better. I forgot to take a picture but trust me that it worked!

First install of 2021 complete! Just a couple live edge shelves but man did this old brick put up a fight! The shelves look great and the clients are happy so that's all that matters!

Next step, leg attachment! I learned from a far more experienced woodworking () to always use threaded inserts and bolts when connecting legs. This allows the wood to grow and shrink during seasonal movement and not be bound up by the mechanical connection. Don't use lag bolts.

Proof of concept for a new product I plan to offer for sale on my website. This prototype is a bit of a mess but it qas just to prove I could make some dished out trays without a CNC. This is an example of a simple catchall tray in walnut with a live edge.

New dust collector, who dis?
Wordy post, not sorry.
For those that know me well, you'll know I don't shy away from many topics, in particular I strive to bring more awareness to depression, particularly in young men. Men make up the largest percentage of suicides and depression, yet we don't talk about it. Certainly not to overshadow the other systemic issues plaguing our society now, Covid has brought a lot with it including major depression and isolationism. Despite all the good news in my personal life lately, I've been really struggling for motivation to work in the shop. Fortunately, I'm almost done this dreaded project which will hopefully make working down here a much healthier and more enjoyable experience. If you or someone you know is hurting, reach out, even if it seems like everything is ok, things aren't always what they seem.

Remember, there's nothing not worth talking about when it comes to your mental health, just like your physical health.
