Last night I was rearranging things to accommodate projects I am completing and projects I'm starting. In the process I took down this particular painting I did several years ago.

As an artist, sometimes certain paintings we just connect more deeply with than others. This was one I did such.

The story for this painting started in childhood with lovely art books that graced my parents' library and coffee table. I absolutely adored spending time going through the colorful, slick, finely printed pages of those books!

I know the image one gets in sharing that is one of a cute little girl looking at her parents art books, but my fantasies for those pages was not exactly gentle. I dreamed of cutting up those pages and making collage!

Fast forward to my adulthood. Those very art books found their way into my hands along with a few cowboy art books. I have repeatedly done the sacrilege of Frankensteining cuttings from those very books!

So yes, you will be seeing more from those artbooks and others, finding their way onto canvases and home decor.

BEFORE
There's a new girl in the studio!

This little sweetie has definitely seen better days, but has found her way to the light of my studio rather than some forgotten dusty corner.

Work will begin with a spa treatment of cleaning and prepping to recieve her make-over.

I am imagining an Old World finish in blue grey greens and lots of created patina reflecting an imagined past and story that is more Nobel than her present condition.

She will be so lovely and elegant in no time!

Stay tuned for her transformation! Maybe she will need to come live with you!

It is so satisfying to give life back to antique and vintage pieces! One of the legs on the credenza was broken off and the piece lost to time. I was very pleased with the results of the rebuilt foot. Painted the repair was undetectable. ❤️
