The Posh Brush Studio

The Posh Brush Studio I lived among antiques all my life and love them passionately. I have a simple philosophy regarding old and antique furniture.

My grandfather was an antiquarian and I learned (and still learning) the art of antique furniture restoration in Italy where I continue to go to hone my skills with the master restauratori. Why buying new (usually not made of great quality unless you spend a king's ransom) when you can upcycle, restyle and customize an old piece that will last generations and will be unique? I use the safest poss

ible products with lowest VOC if none. When restoring I produce my own colors, varnishes and shellac... no not the one you buy... the actual resin you melt with 99% alchool. And then... I continue to study going back to Italy, my country where the best maestro of antique furniture restoration reside and teach.

Before and After fun! I do not always post before and after pictures. This desk was sold to me by a lady who had it since she was a little girl. She was moving and not eager to part with it. It was a gift from her mother. The desk was a solid wood Thomasville and was very pretty and it had a matching chair. The chair needed to have a new upholstery, so I learned to do that too. And here is the makeover!

Just finished and up for grab!

This was a custom order and it was requested pink. After delivery the customer decided she loved the decorations but wanted it white.
It was a harrowing job but here they are, makeover in white.

This dresser was loved. It sat alone, the last remains of an empty home which had sold. The real eatate agent put it out for free or she was going to put at the curb. It is a gorgeous solid wood with spacious drawers and so many interesting details. Custom work for a customer: it shows the mess at my home because it is soooo hot I could not get myself to work outdoors and now I have gold leaf everywhere, even on my cat!
