We think the lake air will win out today, keeping Beloit cooler than many forecast apps are advertising.

One of the biggest weather battles in the Midwest is happening over the Stateline today.

Most weather apps are pushing low 80s for Beloit, but the atmosphere may have other plans.

A persistent east/northeast wind is pulling cooler Great Lakes air inland across southern Wisconsin. That creates a microclimate battle zone where temperatures can dramatically change over short distances.

Rockford may push warmer.
Milwaukee stays much cooler.
Beloit sits right in the middle of the fight.

That’s why today’s forecast is tricky.

If sunshine wins out early, upper 70s to near 80 is possible. But if the northeast lake-fed flow holds stronger through the afternoon, temperatures may underperform and stay several degrees cooler than many apps are showing.

This is exactly why Great Lakes Weather Authority was built.

The Great Lakes don’t just affect the shoreline. They influence severe weather, snow bands, fog, summer heat, and spring warmups across the entire Stateline region.

Forecasting here is not copy-and-paste weather.

It’s microclimate meteorology.

Final from ABC Supply Stadium.

The Beloit Sky Carp couldn’t recover from a pair of big triples by Lake County Tuesday night, dropping the series opener 10-3 in Beloit. The Carp showed some life midway through the game, but the Captains broke it open late. ⚾️

Carson Laws settled in nicely after the opening inning, striking out seven over four scoreless frames afterward. Beloit gets another shot Wednesday morning for Education Day at the ballpark.

Quiet night ahead for Beloit & the Stateline overall, but we’ll keep an eye on a very isolated shower chance overnight as a weak boundary drifts south across Wisconsin.

Most areas stay dry tonight with mild temperatures and light winds continuing around Rock County. Better storm chances remain farther north, though a brief pop-up shower can’t be ruled out late tonight.

Wednesday still looks warmer before a cooler northeast breeze works into the Stateline later in the day.

Beloit First. Always.

Alright Beloit… the heat is officially knocking on the Stateline’s front door. ☀️🔥

Tuesday and Wednesday are shaping up to be the warmest stretch we’ve seen so far this season with highs pushing the upper 80s across the area.

Then comes the payoff:
A cleaner, cooler, lower-humidity pattern slides in late week setting up what could be an absolutely beautiful start to June.

One thing we’ll monitor closely:
Wednesday carries the better chance for scattered afternoon and evening storms before the pattern flips.

But overall?
This forecast has major patio weather, baseball weather, windows-open weather energy written all over it.

Today, we remember the Americans who gave everything and never made it home.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It’s a day carried by sacrifice, loss, courage, and remembrance. Across generations, brave men and women laid down their lives in service to this country — leaving behind families, friends, and communities forever changed.

Here in Beloit and across the Stateline, we honor those heroes tonight and every day.

As the sun sets on Memorial Day 2026, may we never forget the true cost of freedom or the names behind the flags flying across our neighborhoods.

From all of us at City of Beloit News:
We remember. We honor. We thank you. 🇺🇸

A stray early morning shower can’t be ruled out west of the area, but most of Memorial Day stays dry around Beloit.

Tonight: 63°

Whether you’re grilling, heading to the river, traveling, or just enjoying the day off… the weather is lining up pretty nicely for it.

Long before Beloit’s Riverfest faded into memory, Old Settlers Days kept evolving, growing, and finding new ways to bring the Stateline together every summer. While both festivals became part of local culture, OSD never lost its footing — turning a small-town tradition into one of the region’s biggest summer events powered almost entirely by volunteers and community support.

From carnival lights along the Rock River… to nationally known artists taking the stage in Rockton… Old Settlers Days has become more than a festival. It’s a summer tradition families plan around every year.

And throughout the weekend, Great Lakes Weather Authority powered by City of Beloit News will be monitoring current conditions, radar trends, and festival forecasts to help keep the Stateline informed.

🌧️ EARLY MORNING UPDATE — rain is slowly moving out across Beloit and the Stateline this morning.

Steady showers continue early, but the back edge of the rain is already beginning to work into southern Wisconsin. Roads will stay wet through the morning commute, though conditions should steadily improve after sunrise.

☀️ Here’s the payoff later today:
• Rain fades this morning
• Clouds begin breaking late morning
• Sunshine returns this afternoon
• Temperatures rebound near 78°

That raw, rainy 6AM feeling won’t last long today. By this afternoon, it’ll feel completely different across Beloit and the Stateline.

Great Lakes Weather Authority powered by City of Beloit News continues tracking conditions all morning long.

Beloit First. Always.

12:30AM Sunday Morning Update 🌙

A pretty solid Sunday is still lining up for Beloit and the Stateline.

A few early morning showers may brush parts of the area around sunrise, but the overall trend still favors improving conditions through the morning with warmer air building in during the afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 80s later Sunday with a mix of clouds and sunshine developing across the region. Tomorrow honestly has that first real summer-weekend feel around the Stateline.

Mild tonight. Warm tomorrow. Windows-down weather.

We’ll continue watching radar trends overnight and update if anything changes before sunrise.

Beloit First. Always.

05/23/2026

6PM UPDATE: Beloit stays warm and fairly quiet this evening with temperatures holding in the mid 70s ahead of a mild overnight across the Stateline. A few brief showers may drift through later tonight, but most areas should stay dry for much of the evening.

Tonight:
• Low around 58°
• Partly cloudy skies
• Brief overnight shower possible
• Light south winds

Sunday:
• High near 81°
• Very warm for late May
• Mix of clouds and sunshine
• Spotty morning shower possible before improving during the afternoon

The overall pattern continues trending more summer-like heading into Memorial Day week with above-average warmth hanging around southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
