When was the last time you saw the person who set up your Merchant Services account? When did you last have a rate review? When was the last time you actually reviewed your entire statement to make sure there were no "junk" fees being added on. Do you even know what would be categorized as a "junk" fee? I do! What is EMV and why is it so important? A question that is asked to me all the time. A very good question.
Everyone may or may not know that there was a liability shift that began on October 2015.
If you accept a face to face transaction and it was a counterfeit card, the business is held liable for that transaction on top of the penalty fees they will be responsible for, if they processed the transaction on a Non-EMV enabled terminal.

EMV stands for Europay Mastercard Visa
It is a global standard for chip cards. EMV helps reduce fraud in face to face car-present transactions.
The benefits of EMV technology is that it reduces the likelihood of fraud from counterfeit, lost and stolen cards.

Magnetic strip cards are mostly commonly compromised through card skimming and card cloning, which virtually is impossible to do with EMV Chips.

EMV technology also uses more sophisticated identity validation so that cards cannot be used by an unauthorized user.

Got to meet some pretty amazing dogs today at Almost Home Dog Rescue and Rehab!
Stopped by to drop off my donation on behalf of my customers and met some of the rescues! My daughters also dropped off a donation as well!
Almost Home Dog Rescue and Rehab is a rescue out of Central Vermont that rescues dogs from high kill shelters, dogs with medical issues, or owners that no longer want them. They provide a safe haven for them until they are able to find their forever home.

Any amount of donation is always helpful to them!
