Current project: making preparations for my family’s new wood stove. It starts with moving our fridge out of its alcove, removing the flooring where the stone hearth pad will go, and putting up shiplap and trim. I then filled the gap between the chimney and the trim with mortar to keep any stray embers out of the walls.

Just took delivery of a ton of flat and quarter sawn 5 and 8/4 white oak, all ear marked to finish up the set of four Adirondack chairs and begin an Arts and Crafts style open kitchen cupboard.

Fully assembled chair. Still needs sanding and rounded over edges, but it’s already a nice place to relax!

This week I’m making progress on a set of four Adirondack chairs for a Bangor family. I picked up the white oak a few weeks ago, and began the milling process of bringing the boards from rough sawn lumber into shaped parts - and just in time, too, as Maine as entered the perfect porch-sitting time of year!
