Started a little work on restoring this old roll top desk. This is the before state…I did do a little cleanup on the very top to get an idea on how this is going to go.

So far I can tell that this appears to be made of solid oak which will be a beaut to work with!

Got a cutting board order in so good day to clean out the hardwood strip pile and glue some boards up!

One shop project almost done and a couple signs finished!

I got a hose reel for my compressed air setup in the shop so I built a box for it to mount on…nothing special really, but good way to use some scrap plywood. Inside the box is a cinder block for weight so it stays in place when I pull the air hose out.

The two signs are for paths we have on our property. Our plan is to name each path and place signs. These were two pieces of cedar scraps that were perfect for this!

Well all the lumber that was in the workshop is on the lumber rack…but there is still more in the garage and it definitely won’t all fit haha. I had a feeling this was going to happen. So time to start planning and designing the next lumber rack which was always part of the plan anyways.

Also, a preview of the next project…restoring this approximately 130 year old roll top desk and chair! Should be a fun project for sure.

The lumber rack is done! Six 11’ long shelves…let’s see if all my lumber fits or not 😁😆.

FINALLY!!! I am working on my lumber rack for the workshop. It’s only been 6 years of working on projects around piles of lumber on the floor.

I saw this cantilever design for the shelf supports online and it fit my goals I had for this rack. I didn’t want any supports along the front so nothing gets in the way of accessing the wood. I also wanted this to be a freestanding shelf so those store bought systems wouldn’t work.

I’ve got three more of these to make and then connect them together making an 11 foot long shelving unit.

Made a boot jack for our house out of some oak. I love how the engraving came out on this!

Day two of sub-zero temps means second straight day of an all day fire going in the workshop to keep things from freezing!

I normally don’t have a fire going when I am not out there and the barn does a good job at staying above freezing temps even when outside temps dip below freezing. However, when we get to sub-zero temps, that is not always the case…happened once and I had frozen wood glue!
