It's the FINAL week of our New Year Challenge🎊

Last week we went through our Linen Closets and let go of items that no longer served their purpose.

This week, THE CLOSET (or dresser)

With today's TX weather, it feels like winter is a thing of the past 🤞. Now is the perfect time to go through spring clothes that you know you DON'T want to wear and the winter clothes you didn't wear this season.

If it's easier, go drawer by drawer or section by section in the closet.

- Pull it all out and quick-toss items you know you don't want to keep

- Put all like-items together and assess how much you have - do you need 10 pairs of the same pant? Maybe not...

- Use drawer dividers (spring-loaded or fabric cubes) to help create division of items in your drawers

- Do not underestimate how using the SAME HANGERS can transform your closet

- Assess your shoes/belts/purses while you're at it

- And YES, you can have a sentimental bin for the various items that you won't wear but that bring back great memories

And week SIX is on it's way to being done 👍

Week 5 of our New Year Challenge🎊

Last week we went through our Bathrooms. Old make up and unused samples are a thing of the past!

This week, THE LINEN CLOSET

After the crazy freeze we just had in TX, assessing which blankets to keep should be easy. If you didn't use it and it no longer has a purpose in your home, let it go!

- Pull everything out and group items by size (sheets) and category (pillows, blankets, towels...)

- If you no longer have the size mattress to fit those sheets on, donate it!

- Scratchy old towels? Time to upgrade and toss the old

- Use sheet boxes to group sets together and fit nicely on the shelf

- One-off pillow cases can be stored in a basket to keep them all together

- Suction bags are a perfect way to save space for blankets and pillows that get used only a few times a year

And week FIVE is on it's way to being done 👍

Week 4 of our New Year Challenge🎊

Last week we straightened up the pantry. Expired food is a thing of the past!

This week, THE BATHROOM 🛁

Like the kitchen and pantry, the bathroom is a heavy hitter of a space. We're all on there all the time. And it can get to be a bit of a mess 🧽

- Open your drawers, assess your space and get rid of easy toss-able items

- Time to dig in - go through makeup, vitamins, etc. Anything you haven't used in a year is probably no longer good = toss ✅

- Old toiletry bags you no longer like?

- Hair tools that have already been replaced?

- Vacuum out the drawers, wipe down countertops and shelves before putting it all back

And week FOUR is on it's way to being done 👍

Week 3 of our New Year Challenge🎊 - The Pantry

Last week we tidied up the kitchen. Those random piles of "stuff" on the counter are a thing of the past!

This week, THE PANTRY

It's inevitable - food accumulates, it expires, we don't eat it. Let's get rid of the old to make way for the items you DO want!

- Take it all out, group like-items together before you put them back in

- Review your baking items - old, expired baking powder? Whatever it is, if it's not going into your cooking, let it go

- Cereals, grains... Anything you're not eating or is stale?

- Are there any canned/jarred goods hidden in the back that you'll never eat? Toss ✅

- Wipe down the cabinet shelves and floor before putting it all back in

And week THREE is on it's way to being done 👍

If you're feeling really inspired, tackle the fridge and freezer, there's bound to be some items you can toss!

Week 2 of our New Year Challenge🎊

Last week we packed up all the holiday decor. Your home is (hopefully) starting to feel like you're reclaiming it!

This week, THE KITCHEN 🍳

Your kitchen was pulling overtime shifts from November through December, so let's get it feeling organized and cleaned.

- Pots & pans, baking sheets, put them in their rightful cabinet, drawer, wherever they live

- random piles of stuff on the counters? Toss items, put them where they belong, just clear the space

- wipe down the counter tops and fronts of cabinets

- give the floor a good washing, between food and guests, they probably need it

And week TWO is on it's way to being done 👍

Happy New Year 🎊

2026 has officially begun and we've making the decision to get our spaces organized ✅

Let's usher in the Year of the Horse by packing up the holiday decor

- color coordinate holiday bins for easy grouping

- do you have a Xmas 🎄 light box? So helpful to keep lights from clumping

- wreath boxes can help protect them for next year

- give your space a good wipe-down, those Xmas tree needles won't pick themselves up 😉

I cannot even believe tomorrow is 2026 🤯🥳

If you're anything like me, all.the.stuff has started to accumulate around the house and I'm starting to feel just a wee bit overwhelmed.
