5 Things You Must Know Before Buying New LVP Floors (That Floor Stores Won’t Tell You)
If you’re planning to replace your floors, don’t buy anything until you watch this. Most stores won’t tell you these simple but important details that make a huge difference in how your floors look and how long they last.
1️⃣ Thickness matters.
Never buy LVP thinner than 5mm. Thinner planks (like 4.5mm) break easily at the click and lock system. Go for 5mm or 6.5mm — they’re much stronger and feel more solid under your feet.
2️⃣ Beveled edge.
That small line between each plank makes a big visual difference. Floors without it look flat and fake, while beveled edges look more realistic and high-end.
3️⃣ Wear layer protection.
It’s the invisible film that protects your floor from scratches. Avoid 6 or 8 mil wear layers — too thin! Choose 12 mil or higher, and if you want top durability, go for 20 mil.
4️⃣ Don’t buy from a small sample.
Tiny samples hide the true color variation. Always see bigger planks before deciding so you know exactly what you’re getting.
5️⃣ Lighting changes everything.
