Did you know……….the Tallapoosa River runs 265 miles from the southern end of the Appalachian mountains southward and westward through Alabama. The beautiful Tallapoosa River is the perfect place for canoeing and kayaking in Haralson County. The water is clear and the scenery is beautiful. As you travel the Tallapoosa in the fa

ll, you will see the beautiful fall colors, especially in October. In the spring you will see the wild flowers and trumpet vines bloomed on the banks. The Dub Denman Canoe Trail was made possible from a grant by the Department of Natural Resources. The Tallapoosa begins about 40 miles west of Atlanta near the Haralson / Paulding county line and flows southwesterly through hilly terrain for about 45 miles in Georgia before entering Alabama. It drains about 720 square miles in Georgia. From the Georgia state line, the Tallapoosa flows about 213 miles in Alabama to merge with the Coosa River about 18 miles northeast of Montgomery and become the Alabama River. The Alabama River flows 314 miles southwest to join the Tombigbee River and become the Mobile River. The Mobile River flows 45 miles south to enter the Gulf of Mexico at Mobile Bay. Total distance from the headwaters of the Tallapoosa to Mobile Bay is about 617 miles.

Finally got an additional step poured at Broad Street launch site to make it easier to enter and exit the river. I’ll remove the framing tomorrow or Sunday- depends on the weather. A big thank you to my grandson in law for the help.
Edit: removed the frame this morning just before kayakers got there. They loved having the additional step. 😎

They have paddled hundreds of miles of Georgia’s rivers and written popular guidebooks on the topic. Now, they want to share their knowledge with you during a live webinar hosted by Georgia River Network. Set a reminder to tune in to Trip Planning 101 at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 on Georgia River Network’s page!

You will learn what to think about when planning your next trip, best spots for beginners and families, what to bring with you, how to find equipment, key safety considerations and trip planning tools. There will even be an opportunity to ask questions!
