A few weeks ago we completed a repair and restoration project that we would like to share. This is a finely crafted double pedestal dining table, with a butterfly leaf. Circa 1927, it had been purchased several years ago as a special gift from one family member to another. Unfortunately, the container it was stored in developed a leak.....and you can see what happened. This table has great detail work, featuring an ornate double pedestal base and absolutely amazing lion's paw feet. It was a lot of work, but we think the results were well worth it. Hopefully, it will be in service for another 90 years!

We wanted to share a few photos of one of our “outdoor” commissions. This is a very, very, short version of some of the work and design that goes into custom construction of a pair of 36” x 36” Tree Boxes, from rough cut mahogany lumber to the finished product. These were built based on a black and white photo sent to us by email, with the instructions – need to be 36” x 36”. The rest was up to us!!

Does anyone remember seeing this?

Although all of our work is custom, this project was quite a bit different for us.

This sign was originally displayed at (you guessed it!) the Cedar Valley Country Club, in Cedartown GA, probably in the 1970's.

It came to us broken into four pieces with severe rot in the framework and a lot of damage due due to natural weathering and storage issues.

We found it very rewarding to restore this to what we hope is close to its original condition.

These photos give you an idea of how it looked at the beginning, during the restoration process, and the final restored finish.

King size bed designed and crafted several years ago to the specifications of one of our favorite customers in the Rockmart, GA area.

Crafted of solid mahogany wood featuring flame mahogany (also known as crotch mahogany) headboard and footboard, and hand carved headboard pediment.

This quote is one of our favorites. Even though the medium we usually work with is not stone, this pretty much sums up the way we feel about all of our projects.

We came upon this quote in a little jewel of a set of four books, purchased in a yard sale way back in the 1980's. Audels Carpenters and Builders Guide. Originally published in 1923, we have the "later" edition published in 1937.

If you love working with wood and ever come across this set of books.... buy them!

This Huntboard was designed and built for our customer based on a photo from a 1970's catalog published by the High Museum of Art, Atlanta.

Dimensions are: Ht. 45 1/4"; W. 59"; D. 22 1/2"

Primary wood is walnut. Secondary wood is heart pine. Hand crafted string inlay is maple.

The original piece was cited as being from the Athens area, circa 1800.

Drawer fronts are cockbeaded with diamond shaped maple inlaid escutcheons. The same inlay outlines the drawer fronts and legs.

Drawer boxes are heart pine featuring hand dove tailing.

Shellac and hand bee's wax finish.

We still have the catalog, which features huntboards, sideboards, tables, cellarets, blanket chests, corner cupboards and many more pieces that are listed as furniture of the Georgia Piedmont before 1830.

Custom kitchen we designed and constructed. This kitchen has soft-close doors and drawers and a seven-step glazed/distressed finish.

Only solid wood is used in all of the furniture we build.

Matching gates for clients in the Atlanta area.

Constructed of sapele mahogany, they also feature an imbedded metal frame infrastructure.

The hardware and hinges were custom designed and created for this job.
