When we signed up for an Annie Sloan chalk paint class nearly 6 years ago, we never could have imagined that refurbishing furniture would become such a big part of our lives. Not only do we love the work - from painting to sanding to staining (and re-staining, and re-staining), but we love the happiness our furniture brings to other people’s lives. Handing someone their first kitchen set, or a dec

oupage dresser that reminds them of their mother, or a piece of family furniture brought back to life, is what brings us joy. We work as a team through every step of the process, from finding new pieces to work with, to choosing color schemes, to finding the perfect new home for everything we craft. Another dresser finished this weekend. It was beautiful, but the veneer was in bad shape. I opted to patch and paint with my Fuji sprayer. Such a smooth finish, really love how the claw feet turned out. The brass pulls look great after a cleaning.

Took advantage of the rainy weather this weekend to finish the transformation of this waterfall dresser. I cleaned up the piece, prepped, and painted last weekend while the weather was nice. This weekend I applied the floral transfer and installed new brass pulls. They look great with the transfer. The transfer turned out great but took nany hours to apply!

Almost finished with this beautiful dresser. I wanted a natural finish, but the fine details were intimidating. This was the perfect chance to try soda blasting. There were several false starts but was finally able to make it work yesterday! I’m really pleased with the result!

Finally got around to finishing this bedroom set. The tops have a new coat of walnut stain and the bodies have been painted with General Finishes Coastal Blue. That color is a great match for this furniture! The pulls were black and grungy. I cleaned them up and they look great.

Another project finished. I love these antique oak dressers. They’re usually in bad shape when they come to me and this was no exception. I was so excited to start and forgot to take a before photo. This was my first project using a paint scraper to remove the existing finish and I was reslly pleased with the result. The interior of these old dressers is usually pretty bad so I tale the extra time to strip the drawer interiors and shellac. The result is worthwhile and you wouldn’t hesitate to put your clothes inside. I have a beautiful mahogany bow front dresser that arrived the same day. It’s second in the batting order this month.

The transformation of the bedroom set is complete. I used Benjamin Moore Advance to update thus set to navy blue. I was able to keep the original hardware and freshen up with bright gold. People seem to love this navy and gold look and I have another set in the garage that will get a similar transformation. This bedroom set is in excellent used condition and ready for a new life in navy!
