I’ve been refinishing furniture in Arlington for about 10 years, working on everything from family pieces with generations of history to forgotten dressers that just needed someone to see their potential.

An estate auction find with great bones and a whole lot of orange.

The maple top cleaned up beautifully, navy blue gave the body a completely new look, and simple brushed-gold k***s finished it off.

A client wanted to bring this traditional dresser into a more modern home without losing its character.

The biggest transformation wasn’t just the new finish—it was simplifying the center drawer’s fan detail. By softening that one ornate element and pairing it with classic brass hardware, the entire piece feels cleaner, lighter, and timeless.

It’s amazing what a few thoughtful changes can do.

Sometimes the best part of a restoration is what you don’t expect.

My client did the hard, messy work of stripping away the paint, revealing beautiful walnut underneath. I repaired the gouges, restored and stained the finish, and sealed it with a durable topcoat. Seeing the grain come back to life was worth every step.

Modernizing this piece was all about the details.

I kept the beautiful burled wood drawer as the focal point but refreshed the frame in a moody blue-black. I also removed those fussy finials and hardware to create a cleaner, more streamlined silhouette.

I know some folks hate to see wood painted, but this was a veneer piece, not a museum antique. By making these edits, we saved it from being hidden away and gave it a new life that actually fits the client’s home. Client request.
