A customer once said “I wanna see machines” even though there were 3 experienced detailers on job to clean his 30 year old van for his kid. Now I’m not bashing him, he was expecting a rug doctor style operation. Even though we brought experience, he wanted to see extractors. Are extractors range from small mobile units to huge shop units, we brought a small mobile unit. No matter what, he had an image in his head that we did not produce. Each one of us scrubbed his van and did exactly what we are trained to do. Van turned out perfect and the customer was happy at the end. But I wasnt happy. I wasn’t happy knowing the customer painted an image we didn’t produce. When we detail anything, we care to get paid but once we start detailing, we want to do whatever we can to make the customer happy. Moral of the story, we cannot make everyone happy even though we are doing exactly what we are trained to do… and that sucks. We still had to collect payment. No matter what, I remember that day 7-8 years ago. We all got paid and did our jobs, but I feel the customer did get his experience he was looking for. We bought a huge extractor after that day bc I felt terrible and we haven’t used it once and im looking at it now $2k later. We are here to make customers happy. If it was about money, we’d be doctors. Looking at this extractor reminds me we hurt a customer and didn’t even mean to…
