Recycling Committee is very excited to announce its expanded 10th annual Zero Waste Day will be held on Saturday May 3rd in partnership with 10-charitable organizations and 5-recycling entities. Everything collected will either directly benefit families in need via reuse or be recycled back into raw materials. Keeping it all out of the wastestream and helping the environment around Earth Day. As a drive thru donation & recycling event vehicles will be unloaded and directed through the site by an army of local volunteers. Please note that any pre-organization by donation/reuse worthy versus recycling-only items helps to make everything run even more smoothly. REUSE: BABY & KIDS GEAR… TOYS… CLOTHING & SHOES… HOME GOODS… FURNITURE… BUILDING MATERIALS… DECORATIVE ITEMS… BOOKS / CDs / DVDs… BIKES
Have your kids grown too big for their Stuffed Animals and other things? …Are your closets overflowing with clothes that you no longer wear? …Bought new furniture or home goods but don’t know what to do with the old stuff that’s still usable? …Is your home, yard, or garage stuffed to the brim?…Completed home improvement projects but bought more than you needed? Other than fees for TVs & Computer Monitors ($15/ea) and Tires ($5/ea) the large array of items are collected entirely for FREE! Andover’s ZERO WASTE DAY is taking place at Brickstone Square at the intersection of York Street and Haverhill Street (Rte 133) in Andover on Saturday May 3rd from 9am to 1pm. This event is open to All (residents and non-residents) and takes place rain or shine. At our last major event, the Community Recycling Event in October 2013 hosted in conjunction with the MBTA, we collected over 105,000 lbs from 704 participants none of whom waited for more than 5-minutes to have their vehicles unloaded by our volunteers. We are striving to exceed that performance in 2014 and build upon our ZWD2013 where
we increased participation by 50% over the prior year (487 vs 320 cars).
