Stephen Cammarota and Julia Friedenberg decided to take their love and tennis and match it with their love of helping others. They both wanted to work with special needs kids and adults and teach them tennis. After Stephen left for college, Sarah Cammarota, his sister, took over for him. Sarah & Julia co-chaired Tennis Buddies for 2 years together. Grace Sammon & Julia co-chaired for another 2 yea
rs. When Julia went off to college, leadership passed to Lindsey Horowitz, Jordyn Nydish, and Zachary Kotik. In 2022, Jordyn’s sister, Lexi Nydish, along with Jack and Lexi Frutkin, took over as co-chairs. Since 2025, the program has been proudly led by co-chairs Joshua Hong and Justin Yoon. The 8 clinics are designed to teach special needs kids and adults adaptive tennis skills in a fun and social manner. Participants and Volunteers, please RSVP at [email protected]

Our co-founder, Stephen Cammarota, at age 23, passed away after a heroic and lifelong battle with an autoimmune disease and blood disorder prior to the Fall, 2019 Tennis Buddies Squad season. This organization will continue to help many children, adults and families because of Stephen’s amazing ability to touch so many lives. We are forever grateful to him. In loving memory of Stephen James Cammarota.
