Paige Witthar Goodell whose brother Payton is one of my former Amarillo High students ordered this cutting board with a laser engraving of his and his new brides new house. Payton designed the house himself and used the Autocad I taught him to draw the plans.

This is the first time I’ve put a house etching on a cutting board. I designed and built a cutting board stand I’m going to start offering with the boards I make.

One of the couple of things I miss about teaching during my 33 years is working with good kids. One of my former Sandie student Noah Sawyer came up to the shop this week and we cut out some game pieces on the cnc router.

All glass properties are different to laser engrave. So it makes it difficult to always get the results you are wanting. Luckily this last minute Jack Daniel’s gift came out great.

I don’t do a ton of furniture repair anymore, but when someone you coached in softball when she was in the 3rd grade ask you for help. You can’t tell her no. I also taught two of her kids at Amarillo High. We have known each other for ever.

There is allot involved in a repair like this. You have to draw the design correctly so then it can be taken to the cnc router to get cut out. The finish has to be color matched and reglued back in the chair.
