My little Maker's Space is coming along nicely. Small woodworking bench will replace this workbench when it is finished, my Large Tool Chest is in and ready to go, cabinets are all hung. Some cabinets are finished, and some will need to be customized to fit certain tools. Planes are ready, and will be put in the plane cabinet as soon as I customize the inside for these planes. But it is coming along one thing at a time. It feels good getting it all put together. I need to make a saw till to house my Bearkat Saws, and that will be done after the plane cabinet interior. My Dutch Tool Chest and English Tool Chest are not in this space, but they are just outside in the other room.

My everyday bench planes are my set of No.1 thru No.7 Taylor Toolworks LLC Premium Bedrock Style planes. When properly set up and blades honed, they perform as good as any plane in the industry. Plus, I am a big fan of Sapele, and they use Sapele for their furniture. These will be going in the tool cabinet as soon as I rebuild the i side of the cabinet to hold my Taytools line of planes.

Couple more tool cabinets cleaned up and hung up. The larger one next to the Temple tool co saw till will be for a set of hand planes, I will finish out the inside to take my set of Taylor Toolworks LLC Premium Bedrock Style planes. The other cabinet is already built out as a multilayered cabinet that holds a set of my vintage screwdrivers and layout tools, whe the second layer holds chisels and layout tools. The other cabinet that is sitting on the floor is a a general purpose cabinet that I will set up for my needs. I have two more cabinets out in the shed still, that hold a lot of my finishes and stuff. It's coming along.

I have a small work bench to replace my gunsmithing bench, I just have to build the base for it. Until then, I will use my gunsmithing bench. But the transformation has begun. I will turn my tiny gun room into my tiny woodworking shop, and move my gunsmithing bench into the laundry room, where it will be accessible yet out of the way. I will move my safe into my bedroom to make room for my Large Tool Chest. Tomorrow I will work on getting a couple more tool cabinets cleaned up, hung up, and filled up.

I was one of the first to get a marking guage from Jon Joffe. Tonight I put a couple coats of Teak Oil on it. If you haven't checked him out, you need too. Jon builds some beautiful stuff, and these Marking Guages are absolutely flawless, and priced perfectly. Thank you brother, and now that I am slowly getting back to life, I will be putting this one to work right away.

Cleaned up the saw cabinet for the Temple tool co saws and hing it in the house. This also gave me a place to put my Stanley No.605 Bedrock and my Stanley No.10 because they were taking up space in my Dutch Tool Chest where they don't belong. I also keep a coping saw in here as well. But for now, they are cleaned up, ready to go, and hung up like they should be. I don't have much room for tools in my house, so I will try to fit as much as I can, and this is a start.

I had to get busy on my Temple tool co saws. They were subject to the elements while I was recovering from my open heart surgery, and the blades rusted up a lot, while the handles were covered by a layer of mildew. It killed me to see them in such bad shape. So now after restoring them, they look like antiques that have that nice patina. The blades were still as sharp as the day they were made, and they are back to cutting like a hot knife through butter. Oil and sand paper on the blades, Never Dull on the brass, and 0000 Steel Wool on the handles. They are back and cutting like they are brand new. When it comes to Japanese Saws, Temple Tool is my only choice.

This is what has been going on since January. It will be a while before we are back up and running at full capacity. I have a long way to go. I have lost a lot because of all of this, and now we are working to get better, so we can get it all back.

Stripping this stock down and refinish it. It has a spray poly finish now, and I am gonna strip it down to raw wood, give it multiple coats of oil. It will cure for several weeks, getting wiped down with a clean rag daily. After several weeks, and the oil is fully cured, I will decide to either leave it, or apply a poly top coat, which would be multiple coats of poly, should I decide to go that route.
