This piece was woven from silk and wool in the late 1760s, during the Qing dynasty. Its name is "Family Gathering on New Year's Morning."
What makes it interesting isn't just the craftsmanship. It's what the image chose to record. Not a royal ceremony. Not a battle. But a New Year's morning with the family gathered together. Elders seated at the table, children playing in the foreground, everyone within the same frame.
