Last November, the Standard Chartered Foundation announced our community investment to build a thriving and inclusive blue economy that creates job for young people while protecting our oceans.
Together with Conservation International, we recently completed a landscape assessment across ASEAN, culminating in a two‑day workshop in Singapore that brought together funders, implementers, public sector leaders and ecosystem partners to shape the programme’s next phase.
Why this matters to Standard Chartered:
🌊 Healthy oceans underpin climate resilience, food security, and coastal livelihoods – imperative for our corporate purpose to drive commerce and prosperity in communities where we operate.
🐟 ASEAN is central to global aquatic food production and a sustainable blue economy transition.
👥 Aligned to the Foundation’s focus on promoting greater economic inclusion for young people, youth unemployment remains a critical challenge to be addressed, especially for young women across the region.
Insights from the workshop will be published to inform ecosystem stakeholders on the opportunities to uplift coastal communities and to guide the programme’s rollout across the region later this year. We are excited to turn collaboration into impact, together!
