Hi guys, it's been a while since the last project i've shown you.

This time I played with wood shapes to build some incense stick holders. Cute design from mahogany, acacia, walnut and more. And, thank God, no more residue spill!

Also they seem to make perfect Christmas gifts, so, time to surprise your family and friends🎄🎅🎁

The small cylinder fits smoothly in the rounded groove, which helps adjusting the alignment of the stick to the tray.

Usually, incense sticks are not straight. By rotating the cylinder in the groove, the stick can be easily adjusted, so that it doesn't touch the tray.

Dimmensions

Cylinder: 2cm diameter x 5 cm in length
Tray: 26 cm long

Price: 70 ron

* the holder can be used with incense sticks like in the pictures. The stick fits in a 1.5 mm hole.

Mahogani and ash chess set, 4 cm squares.

It's been a long process to build this cuties here, inspired from a design i saw and really liked.
I also learned there are ratios between the pieces and the squares and used that in my design.

Each piece was built from wood blocks that I mounted on the lathe. Measuring proportions, marking, turning, marking, turning and so on, until it finally gets to sanding. And then again. But the joy was present each time. To discover the character of every piece, see how it stands, the smooth lines.

I added weights at the base of the pieces, which gave them a great and pleasant stability. And the board feels so spacious with these thin guys on it. The shape also provides a nice grip.

The board is made of wood cubes, it feels so nice to see the wood textures playing amongst the straight lines and contrasts. It has a punk character, which I very much like.

The set was finished with tung oil. That's when mahogany turned seriously dark and each character showed it's own color.

Enjoy the ride!

Frame in a frame. Rattan cabinet doors. Having fun with tools and observing how they can interact with different materials, like photoshop effects.

The process is the fun part, enjoying every cut.

There is a process behind any simple pencil mark.

That's how I like to play. That's why the final piece is never as simple as it looks like. There are holes, grooves, cuts and elements that I enjoy paying attention to, even though they wont be visible in the final product. But it's more fun. That's why I do it. It's harder to build it the easy way.

Balance board version. Zoom in.

The grooves on the back make the board more slim and also provide a good stopper for the cylinder. Looking forward to make one for myself :D

Balance board version. As guide rails, grooves instead of extruded profile. And fins for a smoother start.
