Salzgitter Flachstahl to raise its prices from September

Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH will raise its flat steel prices by € 30 per ton for all new orders as from September 1, 2013.

Demand for steel products is still running at a healthy level as steel processors in Germany, headed by the automotive industry with its strong export orientation, continue to enjoy a good level of business. At the same time, the inventories of steel traders and processors have settled at a comparatively low level, accompanied by declining supply, which has resulted in longer delivery times.

Notwithstanding the generally satisfactory order situation, the high cost of raw materials and energy has caused significant losses in recent months. Against the backdrop of an-other increase in raw material prices and the extremely tight margin situation, raising the selling prices of Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH's products has become indispensable.
