The 16th of October, 2005. There were five friends who organized an exclusive group for bi-males. Using the power of cyberspace and text messaging, they established “Hot Boys Only” Clan (HBO) and gathered 20 pioneering members under Smart Network. The clan started to grow and after nine months, on July 6, 2006, HBO changed its name to “Hot Boys Only eXtreme” (HBOX) Clan. On that same date, they ap
pointed Kiluwa, Dexter, and Rhon as head officers of the HBOX Clan. After two months, the expansion continued when HBOX launched its clan under Globe Network on September 11, with Rhon a.k.a. Hitaro as the managing founder. As the head of HBOX’s second clan, Hitaro made much progress for HBOX Globe. HBOX Clan under Sun Network was created on January 15, 2007, with Dexter as its managing founder. The HBOX Network of Clans did very well in terms of its active members and proper management, until problems occurred in its mother clan, HBOX Smart. Smart users encountered issues in unlimited text messaging service. The Clan management had resolute the closure of HBOX’s main network and transfer its managing founder, Kiluwa to HBOX Sun. After HBOX Smart’s halt in operation, HBOX Sun’s managing founder Dexter left the group, and as Kiluwa overtook the position, he didn’t manage the clan properly because of his job. As a result, HBOX Sun slowly became weak and eventually disappeared. But despite these challenges, HBOX Globe remained strong and Hitaro became the only founder from the Clan triumvirate who stayed to lead HBOX. Hitaro became the HBOX Chancellor - the highest ranking official in the Clan. With his Council of Officers, he decided to change the name of HBOX Globe to "HBOX Freewill", and shortly became “HBOX Unity”. They continued to improve their management team and recruit more active members in terms of making SMS GMs and attending gatherings or GEB. During the last quarter of 2008, the HBOX Unity management had decided to create a clan extension that will serve as breeding ground for new members before they enter HBOX Unity. This clan extension has been named “HBOX Family”, with Sid as the moderator who will guide the newbies with the rules and regulations of the Clan. With HBOX Unity as the mother clan, HBOX evolved once again and became “HBOX Nation”. On that same period, HBOX launched its official logo, created by Lem, then the Chair for Archives. Last December 2008, the HBOX Nation management organized an outreach project at the Home of the Golden Acres, Quezon City as their Christmas offering for the elders. The start of 2009 became a milestone for HBOX Nation when the majority of the Council passed a resolution to separate HBOX Family to HBOX Unity. HBOX Family became the second HBOX clan with own set of officers, members and recruitment process. HBOX Nation appointed HBOX Family moderator Sid as the Head of Committees for Family, while Vic became the Head of Committees for Unity. After the revamp, the Council has also decided to modify few changes and strengthen the HBOX Rules, which will serve as the basis of all decisions made by the officers, especially by the Heads of Committees, the Vice Chancellor and the Chancellor. On March 28, 2009, “Inter-Clans 1-Day Volleyball League”, the first ever sports event organized by HBOX Nation, gathered different bi clans to fight for volleyball supremacy. HBOX Nation successfully got the 1st runner-up position for this event. Right after the competition, HBOX Nation created another milestone in bi-male events that will promote beauty and supremacy among various bi clans. and Ms. Interclan”, the first and currently the longest running bi-male clan pageant in the community, was held at Starlites Bar in Cubao, Quezon City on April 24, 2009. Chauncey, the representative of HBOX Unity got the title of the first Mr. Interclan 2009. Following the success of the said event, the Founder, then Chancellor Hitaro reorganized his Officers to strengthen the leadership of HBOX Nation. He appointed Ferds as the Co-Founder and the Head of Events, Vice Chancellor Justine Cairo as the Chancellor, and Rye as the Vice Chancellor. On June 26, 2009, another first in bi-male pageants was born. The "Battle of the Clan Founders" is a bi-male pageant where all participants were founders and co-founders of different bi clans in Metro Manila. With the back-to-back success of these pageants, HBOX Nation was hailed as the leading and most successful clan for event organizing in Metro Manila. Also in this month, Justine Cairo has been appointed as the second Co-Founder and Vic became the Chancellor. The Upper Management has decided to rename the titles and appoint appropriate people after some officers resigned and quit from the Clan. All Heads of Committees were called as “Governors”, and all Nation chairs were renamed as “Directors”. On July 14, 2009, Vic commanded the then Director for Rules and Creatives Lem, to review the current HBOX Rules for any flaws in some of its provisions. In compliance to this, Lem presented his proposed amendments to the Council of Officers in a meeting last July 18 of the same year in Brgy. Pag-asa, Quezon City. After clarifications and additional suggestions had been made, the Council formally attested to the proposal, and thus, approved the 2009 HBOX Nation Rules and its Official Guidelines on the said date and place. On July 21, 2009, Justine Cairo presented a proposal for a change in the acronym of HBOX. The Upper Management and the Council of Officers agreed with the proposal, and eventually, they approved it as the newest acronym for the Organization's name. From “Hot Boys Only eXtreme”, it has been replaced by four (4) special Spanish words: humano (humane), belleza (beauty), opulencia (wealth), and xantico (xanthic). With this new meaning, the Top Management mandated the revision of the logo and to encrypt the new acronym on it. HBOX Nation does not stop creating events that will enhance and showcase the talents of the Metro Manila bimale community such as the HBOX Singing Icon and the Mr. Interclan. With the demands of innovation within the bi-male community, HBOX Nation launched its newest official logo, the official Facebook fan page called "The HBOX Nation Community", and its official account on August 2010 - a proof that HBOX Nation is still unbreakable as one of the most active clans in Metro Manila. On that same month, HBOX Nation proves its popularity, as it ranked second among all clans in terms of popularity, according to a survey conducted by Inter Clan Society (ICS), an alliance of different bi-male clans. As part of the Organization's 5th anniversary celebration, HBOX Nation Events Group reopened the Singing Icon competition in its 2nd season, held last October 03 at Starlites Bar. Almost 15 clans and 30 contenders fought for music supremacy. In its Final Showdown on October 17, 2009, James, a contender from the OneBacardi Organization, made it to the top and became the Second Grand Icon. On June 2010, another milestone has been made when HBOX's official name was hispanized and now known as La Nacion Real de HBOX. With this change, the names of its communities were hispanized too - La Unidad and La Familia. The names of positions were also Hispanized to jive with the official name. The 3rd year of Mr. Interclan was held in the second quarter of 2011. The Black Label Society proved their dominance as they won both titles -Josh Bohol and Bianca Therese Sytangco Suarez were successors to Dawson Satchi and Adriana Kristine who also represented BLS in the 2010 Pageant. On June 20, 2011, the HBOX Constitution was ratified for the third time by the officers and members. October 2011, the bi-male community had witnessed another first in bi-male pageanty with the birth of Nuestra Belleza, a competition for beauty royalties who already won or placed as runners up in other bi-male pageants. The 3rd season of Singing Icon was held in March 2012 where Darson of COB emerged as The Third Grand Icon. Right after the event, Zien and Yael were named as the new Chancellor and Vice Chancellor succeeding Mhigoy and Jhay who held the posts for 20 months. But on December 23, 2012, Hitaro succumbed to death due to serious illness and left the Royal Nation with his undying legacy in the bi-male clan world. The entire community mourned of his loss and his contributions will forever be remembered by his friends. A month after Hitaro's passing, Justine Cairo took over the leadership and currently setting new trends inside the group as HBOX looks forward to its 10th anniversary in 2015. Truly, HBOX has contributed a lot in the bi-male community. From a simple clan of 2005, the Royal Nation becomes an adamant LGBT events organization of today made its part to showcase the talent, the skills and the best of bi-males, not only in Metro Manila but probably, throughout the Philippines. HBOX will hold its promise to all bi-males to bring the best that everyone can enjoy. With unity as one family, HBOX will remain as a strong symbol of our community.
