Tena Kouotu Katoa, I was unable to attach this as a document so i have pasted it into this post instead.
Due to the panui below the marae will NOT hold any huimate there, whether they are covid-19 related or not.

NATIONAL EMERGENCY ALERT LEVEL 4 – KUA RĀHUI TE MOTU
OFFICIAL GUIDELINES FOR TANGIHANGA
When someone dies – what we need to do first and foremost
• Immediately contact your local Police and inform them of the death. You may wish to speak with the Police Iwi Liaison Officer, which your local Police should be able to facilitate easily.

• Appoint a whānau member to liaise with Police and Health Providers. This may be the person who contacted local Police in the first instance.
o Māori communities, iwi, hapū and whānau are being encouraged to establish local ‘kaiwhakarite’ or people who can assist whānau during this time as well. You may wish to contact your ‘kaiwhakarite’ to seek advice. Get in touch with your iwi and hapū organisations as well as marae to see if a ‘kaiwhakarite’ has already been established.

• Contact the deceased’s Health Provider (GP, Hauora, PHO).
o If your loved one has died from a known health issue, this will be critical information for the Police – your loved one’s Health Provider must liaise directly with the Police to pass on this information.
o If your loved one has died from COVID-19 then it will be critical for the Police and/or Health Provider to support you with information on what to do next.
o If your loved one has died from an unknown cause, a post-mortem will need to be undertaken. The Police will facilitate this process and will liaise directly with your appointed whānau member.

• Get in touch with a local funeral director to organise arrangements for burial or cremation.
o If you are unsure about funeral directors, work with your local Police Iwi Liaison Officer, ‘kaiwhakarite’, Tribal Authority, Health Provider and/or local Civil Defence Emergency Management Centre to identify someone suitable.

• Once you have secured the services of a funeral director, be prepared:
o They will uplift your loved one wearing full protective clothing including masks, gloves etc. – this may be daunting for whānau, especially young ones.
o They will only allow one appointed whānau member to facilitate arrangements including paperwork – this may need to be done remotely or at least using strict social distancing measures.
o Whānau are not allowed to go to the funeral home for viewing, karakia, poroporoakī or mihi.
o All funeral directors are being encouraged to carry out burials and cremations as quickly as possible and at the nearest cemetery or burial ground as defined by law.
o Depending on where you are located there may be the ability to have the deceased interred at an urupā or private cemetery. However, this will need to be agreed with the funeral director.
o However, this does not preclude whānau from electing to have their loved one placed in storage (refrigerated), if this facility is available locally, until we are past the current Level 4 Alert – National Emergency. You can discuss this option with the funeral director if you wish to.

TO NOTE:

Tūpāpaku are potentially contagious

• Where possible, try to minimise contact with the deceased loved-one.

• It will be very hard, but we cannot allow any others to come into contact with the deceased or those who are in isolation with them.

• This means that whānau and friends are unable to visit your home or funeral home to pay their respects.

• It also means that the time available with your deceased loved-one will be short.

Cremation

• Although you may not be used to cremation it may have to be an option you consider, especially if you are wanting to return your loved one to their whānau urupā once we recover.

• Be prepared to potentially not have your loved-one’s ashes returned until after the pandemic.

Honouring your loved one

• Once whānau know the time of the burial you may want to hold a service at that same time in your own home with those whānau you are isolating with.

• You may also choose to livestream this service with other whānau and friends.

• Once we recover from this pandemic, your whānau may want to come together to honour your loved one. If your whānau member was cremated, you may want to bury their ashes at a whānau urupā. If they were buried immediately, you may choose to hold a service at the burial grounds. These are only some of the ways you may choose to remember your lost loved one.

Getting support

• We encourage whānau to utilise the services of their Police Iwi Liaison Officers, their local ‘kaiwhakarite’ and their deceased loved-one’s Health Providers.

• Grieving is never easy. If you feel you are not coping, it is important to talk with a health professional. For support with grief, anxiety, distress or mental wellbeing, you can call or text 1737 – free, anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – to talk with a trained counsellor.

Te Puawaitanga Hou Marae Covid-19 Corona Virus Plan
Tena Koutou Katoa
This is an update from Monday’s post
Due to the announcement made yesterday that we are a Level 3 and will be a Level 4 on Wednesday mednight, ALL ACTIVITY will cease at the Marae as of today except for Huimate
Unfortunately, we missed the opportunity to bring in a Commercial Cleaner who were to come in today as they have now shut down for the next 4 weeks.
The community were never expected to do clean and sanitise our maere, so we will now wait until clearance has been given and then bring them in.
Our community should be preparing for Level 4 and not worrying about the marae, it will take care of itself
With the advice from the roopu kaumatua there are slight changes below pertaining the Huimate.
Huimate:
The following plan is for tangihanga NOT relating to the COVID-19 corona virus.
Only under these strictest of rules will the marae hold huimate:
• All bookings will go through Fiona Paul (0276002120)
• We ask that whanau keep their mate in their homes for the duration. On the rā nehu we will allow the tūpāpaku to lay in the wharenui to enable the practise of our tikanga and kawa and to support the whanau pani
• Please be mindful with indoor gatherings of any kind not to exceed 100 people at any given time. We ask that the whanau adhere to this.
• The whanau will be supported by 1 Kaikaranga, and 1 Kaitiaki during their time. We ask that the whanau bring their own Kaikorero for this.
• We ask for times to allow our Kaikaranga and Kaitiaki to set up the wharenui for the whanau.
• Hand sanitisers and masks are not available, and we ask that you bring your own
• The Kitchen and dining room will NOT be available for use, therefore there is to be NO hakari at the marae, however, to finish the Kaupapa the marae will prepare refreshments for the whanau and will set up by the marae kaitiaki
Huimate relating to COVID-19 corona virus.
• The Board of Trustee will adhere to the Ministry of Health regulations for this and will seek the advice of our Roopu Kaumatua.

Te Puawaitanga Hou Marae Covid-19 Corona Virus Plan
Tena Koutou Katoa
Yesterday, Sunday 22nd March 2020, the Board of Trustees of Te Puawaitanga Hou Marae Trust made the following recommendations to present to the community hui for the safety of our Marae and our community in preparation for the COVID-19 corona virus.
With the announcement from our Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern that New Zealand is now a Level 2, this planning and preparation is imperative.
Our sole objective is to protect our vulnerable whānau within the community of Otangarei, our elderly, our babies and our sickly, also ensuring that we stay protected and healthy too.
As of today, the following plan is set in place for our Marae:
• All Marae booking will cease for the next 3 months except for Huimate.
• All pre bookings for the next 3 months will be cancelled by the booking officer.
• The Board of Trustees have endorsed for a Professional Commercial Cleaner to fully cleanse and sanitise the Wharenui, toilets, kitchen, dining room and conference room.
• Once this sanitising is completed, ALL ACTIVITIES will cease at the marae except for Huimate for the next 3 months.
Huimate:
The following plan is for tangihanga NOT relating to the COVID-19 corona virus.
Only under these strictest of rules will the marae hold huimate:

• The whanau will be supported by 1 Kaikaranga, 1 Kaumatua and 1 Kaitiaki during their time.
• Immediately after the closing karakia and the whanau leave, the marae will be locked down and a commercial cleaner will come in to sanitise the wharenui and toilets

We ask for your patience and understanding in what has being put in place for our Marae and we look forward to when these restrictions can be eased, and we are able to return to normal.

Kia Ora koutou. Firstly, thank you for everyone who attended the Tri-annual meeting for the Otangarei marae for the elections of new Trustees. There was some very robust korero, some agreed and disagreed but we finally have set the new Board of Trustee for the next 3 years. 2 Trustees were re-elected, 2 current stayed and 3 new were nominated in to replace 3 Trustees who retired.
I would like to take this time to thank the 3 retired Trustees Margaret Poananga, Makoare Hoterene and Robert Hill for their unfailing support and devotion they have given to our marae over the last 5 years. All your work has been dully noted with not only the management side but also with our youth of Otangarei and Food Rescue. Their invaluable skills and support will be sorely missed around our hui table.
Now we welcome a new Board and with the joint efforts of the community and the Roopu Kaumatua o Otangarei and other organisations we will start to forge our way to a new future and the 2020-2024 strategic planner of the upgrades of our dining room, kitchen, ablution block and waharoa.

The new BOT for Te Puawaitanga Hou Marae Trust are:
Zona May Heta
Jason Tepania
Fiona Paul
Dorothy Wise
Adeline Wihongi-Tata
Dot Rauahi
Hinemoa Paewhenua.

Kia ora koutou,

The Otangarei Marae are calling out for volunteers to come and help in the revamp of our Māra Kai or Community Gardens. We have been blessed with the support of the Place-Based Initiative team who have gathered external sources of material needed to upgrade our Gardens. We are calling out for individuals and/or whānau who are available to come and give a hand.
Some of the tasks will involve moving and spreading compost, spreading mulch and wood chips and planting. This will take place over the next 2 days (Friday & Saturday). If you are keen to help out, please drop a comment below or simply show up to the Marae and get stuck in.

Below are some pictures of the current developments.
