Last items from our project still available. These were all donated by locals and we owe it to the community to ensure we get as much for them as we can so the charity benefits. They are no use sittting in our garage!

I am sad to say that we are going to have to call a halt to our project. I have informed our lovely Parkinson’s nurse. She thought it was a really cool plan, but the people who call the shots are in Wellington. They weren’t interested, so we have not been allowed to put a notice in the newsletter, and get the message out to the members. So we have sold only one item since last December. We have now used all our resources buying paints.
A good part of it is that Carol is prepared to carry on doing commissions for people. She will now have time for that. Her rates are very affordable. Contact her through our email, which we will keep going in case someone offers to take over sometime in the future. After six months we will get any remaining donated inventory to a dealer and donate the proceeds to Parkinson’s. A notice will be on the page soon.

We have made eight donations, once per month from May 2021 to November 2021, for a total of
$1477.00
Balance
A financial report to come.
We have liked doing it and cyber-met some lovely people. Unfortunately I am preoccupied with a family illness, so I can’t have full focus.

Thanks for your support all the way along.

Erica and Carol.

Help needed with cartage and dry weatherproof storage
Morning fellow Coasties,
It’s been a long break, full of friends, family and fortitude. Now it’s time to get on with our community project. We have not been idle over the break, and we now have a stock of items ready for sale. Plenty of storage/treasure/gift boxes, large and small; some furniture items, including a sideboard, a side table, and a dressing table.
Our urgent need for help involves two things, possibly from one person, or from a number of people.
First is cartage. We have an offer of several large items of wooden furniture to be donated from a deceased person’s estate. This needs to be fetched from a Narrowneck, North Shore address. Involves getting it downstairs as well as bringing it to a storage place.
The second is storage. Does anyone have or know of a place we could store furniture until we get room in our workshop to work on it.
I know there are lots of good carriers operating in our area, and some storage facilities for rent, but this project is non profit and it takes up quite a bit of volunteer energy and time, and quite a lot of involuntary husbands’ time and money, so any help would be very much appreciated.
To all those who have helped, donated or bought furniture from us before, thanks for your support so far.
Erica and Carol

The Woeful Tale of the Facebook Shop

Problems, problems, problems!
Set up a shop they said. Make it easier for people to buy your products.
So I go through all the steps, and submit the appplication.
O you can’t have a Facebook shop, they said, you don’t meet the criteria.
No idea what the criteria are!
Emails galore, all insisting I will benefit from having a shop.
So I try again.
O yes now I do meet the criteria. Whatever they are.
But they chose the photos, and no human edited them so my shop front is a picture of the table leg.
However, it seems to be fixed now, but woe is me, I don’t have enough inventory. Please bear with us dear friends while the two of us toil away on producing inventory.
And
If you have ideas for a different way of selling the stuff, let’s share.

Welcome new friends and followers, we hope that with your help (just a like is enough), we can reach more people with our ads to continue with our fundraising.

We started a fb shop. We don’t really know what we are doing, so please forgive if it looks strange at times.

Our stock at the moment is at a minimum, so have a quick look and let us know if we can help with gifts for a special person or occasion.

Carols Workshop occasionally takes a commission if you prefer.

Contact us via the message button, or directly on messenger by 7 pm the day before you want it.

Our profits go to Parkinson’s Society charitable trust.

What’s this page about? Trash and treasure, that’s what!
Trash
A dressing table is marked with life’s journey. A side table has held its last high tea. A hall table has received its last hello and goodbye. A bedside table no longer has its place in the bedroom. A wine box arrives from France full of potential fun and energy, to be left emptied of all that promise.

Do we send them to the landfill? Or turn them into -

Treasure

How could we show there is yet life in the apparently unwanted? In her workshop at Tutukaka we found Carol. Wonderfully appealing upcycled furniture and storage boxes are the result. They are painted or decoupaged in true French traditional style using art prints on tissue paper. They are finished with a protective matte lacquer or wax.

We have begun a project to raise funds for research that will help identify retailers who have Parkinson’s friendly shop layouts and let the news out to PwP.

To fund the project, we sell these second chance beauties to people who like the idea of turning trash into treasure in Carol’s Workshop. Our profits go to Parkinson’s Society charitable trust.

We can be contacted by pm from this page, or email [email protected]

Valentine dilemma!
Haven’t a clue what my love would like on Valentine’s Day. She loves chocolate, flowers and bubbles. Predictable but perfect.

Maybe something a bit different. How about a gift box from Carol’s Workshop that is uniquely designed and hand decorated?

Fill it up with the chocolate, flowers and preferred drinks. After V Day, when the chocolate is eaten, the flowers have died and the drinks are a memory, your love will still have the beautiful gift box.

It’s wooden. It’s from France. It’s decoupaged. It’s a great idea.
Pm for details. We can’t sell on this page any more.
