A home should grow with the people living in it ❤️
This project began with an elderly couple in their 70s who wanted just one thing - to continue living in their own home.
Due to mobility challenges, there was no room downstairs, and they had been sleeping in the living area for a year.
Seeing this, their daughter decided it was time to make a change.
At the back of the house was a large backyard that used to be a wet kitchen. After discussions, we reimagined the space, enclosing it to create a proper indoor extension while still allowing natural sunlight to come in. The result? A brighter, more practical layout that flows better for daily living.
What we did:
- Extended the space to create a comfortable parents’ bedroom on the ground floor.
- Combining the dry and wet kitchen into one cohesive area
- Converted the existing storeroom into helper’s room
- Enlarged the toilet and redesigned it to be OKU / elderly friendly
- Kept a dedicated area for laundry and sun-drying, because Aunty still enjoys doing her own chores - now with a beautiful landscape touch (done by sister company .landscape)
- Used sliding doors instead of brick walls to separate parents’ room and kitchen, keeping the space flexible, open, and easy to move around
At the front of the house, we refreshed the entire look - repainting and upgrading all the lighting to make the home brighter, safer, and more comfortable, especially for ageing eyes.
This wasn’t just renovation.
It was about dignity, independence, and allowing parents to age comfortably in the home they love.
If you have elderly parents and are thinking about making your home safer, brighter, and more livable. We’d be honoured to help guide you through it.
