The Ducati Owners Club Singapore was at Sepang for the MotoGP race.
We set off early on Sunday morning and had a fantastic run up to Sepang. The weather was good apart from the haze. Traffic was very light all the way up to Seremban which allowed some very enthusiastic riding.
On arrival at Sepang, we parked our bikes at the Ducati parking bay and made our way up to the Grandstand. The atmosphere along the concourse was electrifying with numerous vendors jousting to promote their wares.
As the Moto3 race was about to begin, we located the Tribuna Ducati stand and were welcomed with a gift pack of a T-shirt and cap and a lunch spread. We were comfortably seated with our other members who had arrived earlier and Ducatisti from all over the region.
Once the Moto3 and Moto2 races were over, the crowd enthusiasm was building towards the main race event. As the commentator and large screens played out the introductions to the riders, it was very clear who the crowd favorite was.
The first 7 laps were exhilarating with numerous overtaking passes between Rossi and Marquez which eventually had Marquez crashing out. The crowd reaction was overwhelming and thereafter, the race was almost a procession.
It was not a good day for the Ducati team with Iannone having a punctured radiator from debris and Dovisioso sliding off after coming in contact with Crutchlow.
Once the chequered flag was waved, the crowd quickly dispersed to try and beat the rush. We got back to our bikes and suited up for the ride to the Concorde Kuala Lumpur.
After a hearty dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, we were all feeling the toils from the day and retired for an early night. Breakfast the next morning at the Melting Pot filled us up for the ride back.
Thank you Ducati Malaysia for organising the Tribuna Ducati and to all those who came to the MotoGP.
