Sports Kenya's Director General, Mr. Timothy Kilimo joined the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, the Principal Secretary for Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, and other senior officials in welcoming and hosting Dr. Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), during his visit to Kenya.

Dr. Motsepe's visit formed part of an official assessment of the country's readiness and ongoing preparations to host AFCON, giving him a firsthand look at the progress being made ahead of the tournament.

The CAF President and the accompanying delegation toured the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani and the Talanta Sports City Stadium, the two key venues set to anchor AFCON 2027.

Moi Girls' Kapsowar had a day to remember, courtesy of Sports Kenya. The students kicked things off with a volleyball training session at Nyayo National Stadium, sharpening their skills on the very courts that have hosted national champions. They then toured Talanta Stadium, getting an up-close look at Kenya's world-class sporting infrastructure and a glimpse into the future of sports in the country.

The undoubted highlight of the day was a face to face session with our very own Malkia Strikers, who took time to interact with and encourage the young athletes. For these girls, meeting the national volleyball team wasn't just exciting it was a powerful reminder that their own dreams in sport are within reach.

Through initiatives like this, Sports Kenya continues to nurture talent at the grassroots, connect young people with world-class facilities and inspire the next generation of champions by showing them what's possible when passion meets opportunity.

Egypt are the 2026 CAVB Women's African Nations Volleyball Champions, defeating hosts Kenya's Malkia Strikers 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-15) in a hard-fought final at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

Egypt's triumph also secures them a historic first-ever Olympic Games (LA28) qualification. Our Malkia Strikers, alongside Egypt and Cameroon, have punched their tickets to the 2027 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup, a proud continental showing for Kenya on home soil.

Congratulations to Egypt on the title and to our Malkia Strikers for a spirited campaign as hosts and finalists.

The team swept Cameroon 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-20) in a commanding straight-sets victory at the ongoing CAVB Women's Volleyball Championship, sending the home crowd into wild celebration. The energy inside the arena was electric as fans, officials and team management came together courtside to celebrate the team's dominant performance and progression to the next stage of the tournament.
