「きょうと椅子」は、地域や世代を超え活動する作家が
一つ一つ丁寧に制作した椅子に自由に座り、
感じることのできる体感型の展示会です。
会場に並ぶのは,それぞれに工夫と技術が注がれ
制作された多様な椅子たちです。
様々な作品に座り、作家それぞれの作品に対する思いを
知ることは、「椅子」が暮らしの中で持ち得る価値を
深める体験になると確信しております。
価値観の多様化が進む世において、
ものの「確かな価値」について感じ、
「椅子の文化」を育む場として「きょうと椅子」を継続的に開催してまいります。
Kyoto Isu” is an interactive exhibition where participants can sit leisurely and experience various unique chairs, each carefully crafted by artisans from divergent regions and ancestry.
The studio is filled with a collection of chairs designed with diligence, skill and ingenuity.
Please have a seat and acquire a deeper understanding of what the craftspeople believe to be “chairs of worth.”
In the midst of modern society’s preoccupation with diversification of values, “real worth” requires consistent development and discipline in order to create a true “Chair Culture”.

作家と西川氏が出展作品について対談形式で解説します。
展示作品に座りながら、お楽しみ下さい。
