Artemodo Interior is a furniture and home decor retailer located in Tokyo, Yuzawa and now Misawa, Japan.

We design and import bespoke furniture and home decor, as well as women's clothing and gifts.

A quick update for everyone asking about the Misawa showroom and café project.

Our original May opening timeline is unfortunately being pushed back a little longer while we continue planning and balancing projects in multiple locations.

The good news is:
The space is still active behind the scenes, and we are continuing to work toward creating something much bigger than just a furniture store.

We are still offering private appointment viewings for customers wanting to see available furniture and décor currently in stock in Misawa.

The long-term vision remains the same:
A more destination-style showroom experience with furniture, interiors, coffee, wine, and a relaxed atmosphere that people actually want to spend time in.

Thank you for all the messages, support, and patience so far. We’re excited about what this space can become, even if it’s taking a little longer than expected.

Nature’s Sculpture — Root Furniture

Many people don’t realize that some of the most beautiful furniture pieces come from parts of the tree that were once discarded.

These pieces are created using teak roots that would normally be left unused after harvesting.

Rather than wasting this remarkable material, artisans transform the roots into sculptural tables and bases, allowing the natural shape of the wood to become the design itself.

Every piece is completely unique — no two root formations are ever the same.

It’s a beautiful example of how craftsmanship and sustainability can come together.

Interior Design Feature — Yokosuka

This lunar shelf was installed as part of an interior design project we completed in Yokosuka.

The circular design creates a sculptural focal point while still providing practical display space for art, books, and decorative objects.

Pieces like this work beautifully in waiting rooms, living spaces, or entry areas where furniture can double as functional art.

One of the things we love most about interior design projects is finding pieces that bring warmth and character into a space.

Artist Spotlight — Matt of Turning Tokyo

One of the artists we’re proud to collaborate with is Matt from Turning Tokyo.

Matt creates beautiful handcrafted pieces using wood that has been felled throughout Japan. Rather than letting these trees go to waste, he transforms them into one-of-a-kind bowls and sculptural objects.

Friends and collaborators across Japan often help collect unique wood pieces — sometimes even transporting them long distances — so each piece carries a story from different parts of the country.

Every finished piece reveals the natural character of the wood: the grain, the imperfections, and the history of the tree itself.

We’ll also be hosting some upcoming events with Matt where you’ll be able to see his work and learn more about the process.

What a beautiful collaboration at Artemodo Interior Misawa.

We recently hosted Mikan Bag, founded by French designer Clémentine, who transforms vintage kimono and obi fabrics into stunning handcrafted bags. Guests selected their materials and created their own pieces during an intimate workshop inside our café space.

This is exactly the kind of creative, meaningful project we love to support.

A selection of her work will now be available in store, and we’re looking forward to future events together.

Custom Live Edge Tables — Hand Selected, Fully Bespoke

Every live edge table we create begins the same way — by hand-selecting individual slabs at our supplier workshops. We sort through dozens of pieces to choose the ones with the strongest grain, the cleanest natural lines, and the most character.

From there, clients can choose:
• the exact slab they want
• the size they prefer
• the finish (natural, warm, matte, darkened, etc.)
• the base style — wood or metal, fully customizable

Live edge tables of this quality are incredibly expensive back in the States. For those PCSing, this is a rare opportunity to order your piece ahead of time and have it ready just before pack-out.
