GOOD MORNING FRIENDS AND HAPPY MONDAY!!

Today I’m going to tell you who Giuseppe Maggiolini was and why he became a very famous Italian cabinetmaker (and still is today).
🧐 Giuseppe Maggiolini (1738–1814) was one of the most celebrated Italian cabinetmakers of the Neoclassical period.

His specialty was furniture decorated with refined marquetry made from different types of wood, capable of creating images, floral patterns, mythological scenes, and geometric decorations. His furniture was elegant yet balanced, inspired by classical Greek and Roman art.

Now that I’ve told you a little about this Italian cabinetmaker who became highly successful in the various European courts during the second half of the 18th century, let me show you this modestly sized chest of drawers (perfect for placing in different rooms of the house, not necessarily just in the bedroom!) that you can find in our store.

This chest of drawers is inspired by Giuseppe Maggiolini because, as you can see, its shape is very clean and simple, without excessive ornamentation. All of its beauty lies in the marquetry, a craftsmanship that today is very difficult to find made entirely by hand.

The marquetry on this chest is created using different types of fine woods, and I really want to emphasize that these are NOT paper inlays.
Unfortunately, nowadays it’s easy to find “marquetry” made from printed paper and then sold as real wood.

How can you avoid being fooled? 🤔
Even just by touch: when you run your hand over the surface, you can feel the natural grain of the different wood veneers, which may also show tiny imperfections due to their natural character (after all, nature is never perfectly uniform).

The chest of drawers will be packed before pickup or delivery.

We will then prepare a price estimate for you before we even move the piece from your place to ours.
