The Vakr Dabu Bench is a sculptural exploration of movement within mass. Eight feet long, it curves fluidly in both elevation and section, challenging conventional geometry while retaining structural strength. Crafted in durable concrete with subtle metallic undertones, Dabu Bench balances monumentality with refinement. The hand-carved side panels are inspired by the traditional Dabu printing craft of Rajasthan. Translating the rhythmic, mud-resist textile motifs into carved surface detailing, the bench bridges contemporary form with vernacular artistry.
Dabu Bench is both functional seating and sculptural expression — a harmonious blend of innovation, heritage, and form. The Dabu Bench was recently displayed at The India Design ID , Delhi as a part of ID Special Projects curated by

Virach – is a composition of different weaves in different materials and patterns. In a never before avatar, this carpet denotes the versatility of the Indian handloom in conjunction with rattan weave. Rattan work till now has generally been seen in the form of rectangular chattai’s . Common for Angans and outdoor spaces, in the Indian space – the chattai was somewhere lost in the urbanscape.
Reintroducing the rattan weave in conjunction with premium carpet weave to produce morphologies and textures. This exploration creates a bridge between two very different age old craft forms and opens door to limitless possibility with both the crafts offering wide range of variety within their own domain.
