I created these festive greetings years ago. As I work on a new project that reflects Tamil and its letters, I find myself revisiting some of my earlier works. Looking back at these old projects offers fresh perspectives and inspiration, allowing me to reimagine familiar ideas and shape them into something new—rooted in tradition yet expressed in a contemporary way.

When our client shared the brief, it was clear that curved forms would play a key role in this project. The idea of fluidity and movement stood out immediately, and the wavy concept naturally guided the visual direction. Through multiple refinements, the curves were carefully shaped to create a balanced, modern, and distinctive identity that truly reflects the brand’s character.

Why ‘Ākāra’ Reflects Who We Are

“In Sanskrit, Ākāra means appearance, and in grammatical contexts it signifies expression. In Pāṇinian grammar, it specifically denotes the phonetic form of the ‘a’ sound. Inspired by these layered meanings, the name was chosen for a multidisciplinary firm.”

1/3 I asked to put her creative spin on the lettering, and she sent me a handful of beautiful sketches.

2/3 One particular iteration immediately felt right.

3/3 I took that version into Illustrator and shaped it into a clean, balanced mark while preserving the original character of the handwriting.

Behind the Logo: Dharpana

When we started designing the Dharpana logo, we wanted it to reflect more than just a name—we wanted it to tell a story.

The word “dharpana” means mirror, and in the classical text Abhinaya Darpanam, the alapadmam mudra symbolizes both a lotus and a mirror. We loved this idea of dual meaning—reflection and growth.

The logo was crafted to show a lotus in bloom, symbolizing how students slowly blossom in their art. If you look closely, the stem forms the letter “D”, connecting the brandmark to the wordmark seamlessly.

For us, this isn’t just a logo—it’s a reflection of the journey every artist takes. From bud to bloom. From learning to mastery.

Creating the Tottimod logo was a journey of exploration, refinement, and collaboration. From the very beginning, our wonderful clients had a clear vision of what they wanted their brand to represent — modern sophistication with a conscious edge.

We began by experimenting with icons inspired by swans and flowing lines, aiming to capture elegance and movement. However, as the process evolved, we realized that the name Tottimod itself carried a distinct personality — bold, refined, and effortlessly stylish. That’s when we decided to let the wordmark take center stage.

The final logo reflects the brand’s essence: contemporary menswear crafted with precision, thoughtfulness, and aesthetic balance. Every detail speaks to their commitment to quality and timeless design.

What happens to those unselected logos?
