I am delighted to say that my third year project has been chosen to be included in the Creative Wave exhibition which is currently on show in the Galway City Museum. The exhibition is part of the Galway International Arts Festival and showcases some amazing pieces from some very talented people including myself! Admission into the exhibition is free, so you have no excuses not to go! More information about the exhibition and the festival can be found at : www.giaf.ie/events/creativewave
The piece that was chosen is called "Good Intensions". It is a small table, designed from the concept of being 100% sustainable. It has an innovative jointing system incorporated into its design, which means that it uses no fixings in its assembly and that the piece can be completely disassembled. The table top is made from OSB Smartply, the legs are solid oak and rope is elasticised rope.
The concept of the piece being 100% sustainable means that all the materials would be either sustainably made or they would be recycled/upcycled. The table top and rails are made from OSB Smartply which is supplied by Coillte, the legs are made from recycled pallets, and the rope is recycled climbing rope.
Here is a short video of how the piece is put together. Feel free to like, share or comment!!
