Hello everyone! I would like to hear your opinions please. I am going to be making some tea light holders for the Christmas period. I would like to know which you would prefer. The ones with the lighter wood in the middle and the dark wood on the outside, or the ones with the dark wood in the middle and the lighter wood on the outside? All opinions are welcomed, and you can either comment below or message me directly. I'd greatly appreciate any help you give me. 😊

Flex Light is a portable light that can be used as a night-light or a modern lantern. It is a small light that utilises a patterned shade to create an atmospheric lighting source within a room. Its two parts can be separated to transform the light into a lantern.

It is made from solid maple and veneered 1.5mm birch ply with a leather handle. The shade is laser cut and the frame is mostly machined on the CNC. The pattern on the shade can be changed to a variety of different designs.

It was designed as part of the Professional Design Practice module for my final year in GMIT Letterfrack.

I am delighted to say that my third year project has been chosen to be included in the Creative Wave exhibition which is currently on show in the Galway City Museum. The exhibition is part of the Galway International Arts Festival and showcases some amazing pieces from some very talented people including myself! Admission into the exhibition is free, so you have no excuses not to go! More information about the exhibition and the festival can be found at : www.giaf.ie/events/creativewave

The piece that was chosen is called "Good Intensions". It is a small table, designed from the concept of being 100% sustainable. It has an innovative jointing system incorporated into its design, which means that it uses no fixings in its assembly and that the piece can be completely disassembled. The table top is made from OSB Smartply, the legs are solid oak and rope is elasticised rope.

The concept of the piece being 100% sustainable means that all the materials would be either sustainably made or they would be recycled/upcycled. The table top and rails are made from OSB Smartply which is supplied by Coillte, the legs are made from recycled pallets, and the rope is recycled climbing rope.

Here is a short video of how the piece is put together. Feel free to like, share or comment!!

This is a backpack that was made as part of a collaboration project with two young and very talented people, Aaron McDermott and Aisling McCallion. It was an absolute pleasure working with both of these people, and was a great experience to learn about a different craft industry.
The bag is made with laminated birch ply, veneered with oak and the textiles are wool yarns knitted using designaknit technology, which is then felted and laytex lined. Then the straps are bias binded and padded with sports mesh.

Nest is a concept design I made. The idea is that the furniture could be assembled and dismantled easily, and then stored in a jigsaw-like wall panel cut out to fit the furniture. It is for small living places with limited room and space. It is made from 18mm Birch-ply.
