PREFAB vs CONVENTIONAL CONSTRUCTION

Instead of being built on-site, a prefab home is constructed in an enclosed space, protected from the elements. It needs less manpower, so the construction work is easier to coordinate and is completed faster.

The home is transported to the lot in sections, so owners can start to live in it sooner. Should the owner decide to move, it can be disassembled and reassembled anytime. Additionally, since the house is temporarily fixed onto the foundation, the owner can reuse the foundation whenever they want a newer, taller, or trendier home.

One of the world’s most durable, precious, and heaviest timbers, Ulin or “Ironwood” is extremely dense. Sourced from centenarian trees, it's one of few wood varieties that sink in water. Its grain is fine and even, it boasts excellent resistance to pests and fungi, and it’s deemed a Class 1 timber because of its durability. It’s highly sought-after for its many outdoor uses, and it’s the material of choice for heavy engineering and construction work, as well as an excellent roofing material in the form of so called “Sirap” shingle roof tiles. Aside from porches and decks, it’s used as a buffer between trailers, reactors, pressure vessels, and even docks and ships.

Bangkirai is a warm brown to reddish timber with a straight grain. Due to its durability and termite resistance, it’s ideal for floors, decks, window and door frames, structural timber, benches, joinery, and cabinetry. It’s resistant to weathering and decay, if raised from the ground and drained well. It’s used in heavy-duty construction work like railway sleepers and bridges and it’s also a popular choice for residential decking and roofing projects. Hardwearing and long-lasting, it may develop hairline cracks, but they don’t affect its strength or take anything away from its natural beauty.
