📍Lajos ( Ludwig) Kozma Sofa - 1918-1925

Rare and museum-worthy early “Kozma Baroque” solid black walnut and velvet sofa designed by Lajos Kozma during the Budapest Workshop / Budapest Werkstätte period, circa 1918–1925. The piece is accompanied by its original archive drawing from the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest, with the realized sofa matching the documented design in nearly every sculptural and structural detail. Its dramatic undulating backrest, monumental silhouette, and highly stylized carved legs represent an exceptional example of Kozma’s early decorative modernism, strongly influenced by Viennese Secession and Wiener Werkstätte aesthetics. The sofa is currently undergoing a historically accurate restoration, including the reconstruction of the original deep-tufted 14-section seat and light velvet upholstery based on the archive drawing. An extremely rare and highly important documented Hungarian Art Deco / Wiener Werkstätte related collector’s piece.

📍This exceptional Austrian Art Deco three-seater sofa from the 1930s is finished with striking Macassar veneer not only on the sides and base but also across the entire back panel, making it fully freestanding and ideal for placement in an open space. The sofa retains its beautifully preserved 1960s floral upholstery, with thick, comfortable cushions and an original spring system in excellent working condition. A full-width, hinged storage compartment is integrated beneath the seat for bed linen or accessories. The solid mahogany base and legs provide stability and have been freshly oiled to enhance the natural depth of the wood. The frame is structurally perfect, the veneer is intact, and the piece shows an elegant, authentic vintage patina. A rare and decorative Central European Art Deco sofa with strong architectural presence, suitable for high-end interiors or collectors.
Under the seat cushions, the sofa features its original metal wire-frame storage compartment with a lift-up mechanism for bedding.

📍Another Viennese masterpiece has been rediscovered and accurately identified through archival research.

⚡️Rare, documented Viennese Art Deco display bookcase from the 1930s, designed by Fritz Gross.

Active in interwar Vienna as both architect and painter, Gross was published in Innen-Dekoration, yet his furniture has virtually disappeared from today’s market. This model was long considered lost, known only from an archival photograph.
The composition is distinguished by its deliberate use of multiple veneers: centrally mirrored, highly figured walnut, flanked by diagonally arranged fields, with darker toned interior surfaces above. The lower корпус features a uniquely designed sculptural metal handle, while four geometric pulls accent the frieze. The three-part glazed upper section establishes a disciplined vertical rhythm and balanced proportions. A tangible rediscovery of a forgotten chapter of Viennese modernism.

📍Austrian reform–Werkbund pair of armchairs, design attributed to Oskar Strnad, late 1920s – early 1930s.

📍[New removable Sheepskin seat cushion]

Oskar Strnad was one of the key figures of Viennese modernism and housing reform, whose work formed an essential foundation for the humanist functionalism later developed by Josef Frank within the intellectual context of the Österreichischer Werkbund. The armchairs feature a solid oak structure executed in traditional cabinetmaking techniques, combined with original leather strap seating, reflecting the Werkbund ideals of durability, repairability, and functional clarity.

The entire surface is finished in original Macassar ebony veneer, displaying a bold, high-contrast grain characteristic of luxury furniture from the period. The four-door façade is carefully proportioned and rhythmically structured, giving the piece a balanced and monumental appearance.
Condition is very good vintage: structurally sound, with intact veneer throughout and only light, age-appropriate signs of use.
