"Mist" represents the unique handcrafted wearable art pieces made with devotion and respect to material. Authors of this small wooden artefacts are Valentina Stepan and Zoran Kranjčec. Since the beginning of time this unique being

has always been some sort of a guardian to the terrestrial world. Its existence is crucial on many levels for the life of animals, people and other plants. Throughout history it has been used as an universal material for various purposes. Today, its usage is enormously widespread, and in some cases completely desecrated. The tree and its material, in our case, is not only the media but also a guide of our creations. It is known that through its structure (growth rings and grain) the tree has the ability to write down its own path of life. Not only that it reflects the climatic conditions and environment in which it had grown, but also testifies the time that has passed in general.Through its gift (ability) to write down time, not to mention others, it definitely communicates with us in every possible form. In the mystical silent way it covers forests and mountains with a blurry white veil. It enters every pore and becomes a link between vibrations of both matter and energy. On the fringe of three polarities (air, water and fire) it makes shapes indefinable, therefore permeating in their eternity. As an eternal companion, almost addiction like, mist is the source of our inspiration. The triangle

Through the context of mist (fog), the triangle comprises three elements: fire, water and air. It also represents connection between the final product, the user and the authors. Every piece is hot stamped with small "mist" triangle symbol. About us

We are both artists who have graduated at Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka. We share interests and love for woodworking. The story began in a small workshop located in the mountain region of Croatia called Gorski kotar. It's stimulating and inspiring environment also known for its natural beauty and healing abilities. Playing and experimenting with tools and different materials eventually led us into making unique, meticulously crafted wearable sculptures. In our work we use noble/precious and exotic types of wood. The entire collection of "Mist jewelry" has been presented and exhibited at numerous art exhibitions and fairs.

ArtJewelryChallenge started by Donna Greenberg in the hope of capturing a diversity of what is happening around the world of art jewellery. I got nominated by Pupa Franca. Thank You, Matea! For 5 days I will show a piece of my jewelry and nominate another artist to do the same.
