You are invited to the harvest festival in Norra Matgårdsstaden, the year is 2052!

On 1 October 11.00-15.00 you will find us at Gasverkstorget in Norra Djurgårdsstaden. Experience a fictional future where the food we eat is largely produced within the city's borders. How does it change the way we live and live in the city?

Norra Matgårdsstaden is a speculative design by Manyone/ Boris Design / , Orvet Stockholm , Jan Rydén Bonmot och Stockholms stad, finansierat av Vinnova and the call for Future Prototypes 2022.

ETHER – From earth you were extracted, with fire you were made, through water and air you will provide.”⁣

In these times of graduations (hurray!) we tip our hats a bit extra to our very own , and her ETHER. ⁣
⁣
Tackling the unsustainable practise of artificial and electricity powered air conditioning to cool homes in warm climates (which increases our earth’s temperature, and so on...) with a solution based on earthenware and evaporation. We applaud both her choice of topic and her design ex*****on, created at the University of Lund .se

Now how quickstep can we get a set of those in to each of our studios in Asia?

Everything that’s old is new again.⁣

It is exactly three years this week since our co-founder Katarina Ivarsson flickered on to the screens at Sweden’s University of Lund from our studio in Hong Kong. A commencement speech delivered, via video call, to the graduating industrial design students. ⁣
⁣
The tech was not a big deal then, it is not a big deal now. ⁣
⁣
The topic, however was. About relating to people, about being nice, doing good hands-on work and forging ones own way. With empathy and talent, aspiration and humanity. ⁣

Those things never get old.

Just finished the first day at in Sundsvall. Northern Sweden's largest conference on IT and digitalisation! Katarina delivered a talk on the importance of recognising Human Intelligence, Human Technology and Human Purpose when developing digital and technical solutions. We presented the result of the SafeIoT project aiming to create a safer industry. Personal safety in industry is today lifted as one of the most important strategic topics in Swedish industry!

This year we are celebrating ten years of Boris Design Studio and we are super excited to announce that we are embarking on a great new adventure!

We are joining forces with where we will be collaborating with some of the best people in the world to design everything that’s next!

This means we will continue doing what we do best but also on a much larger scale! Did we say we’re excited? :)

Eventually we got to visit the home futures exhibition in the Design Museum! Through showcasing the 20th century prototypes of domestic living, we have a glance of how yesterday’s fantasies have become today’s reality and meanwhile, keep questioning: what will the future home be? We are blissful that a design fiction about future home created by and is exhibited there. So, what does HOME mean to you? The exhibition is on until 24 March. Make a visit, be inspired and inspire us!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We were rapid prototyping with the LittleBits electronic building blocks for our SafeIoT project the other day! It is not only playful and fun, but we also learned how to make protection gear truly interactive!⠀

Hoppy is a bold, witty and colourful character found in many of the signs created for the Hop Lun factories. Hoppy is intended to be used in internal communication at Hop Lun. Through creating the character and the visual guideline, we aim to assure the consistency of any new additions to the signage used at Hop Lun’s facilities. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
