From South to North, from West to East, there are poems all over the planet, but in a little village in South-East Crete at the edge of Europe, Frans writes them like this:

Mijn Geluksvogel.

Ik weet niet meer wanneer of het waarom,
Misschien was hij aan vakantie toe,
Ik stemde in en dat was stom,
Maar god, alles ging toch ook zo goed.

Vanaf mijn schouder vloog hij weg.
“Veel plezier”, riep ik nog over ’t plein.
Wie dacht aan de toekomst of aan pech?
Het zou maar voor een weekje zijn.

Waren de pinda’s soms niet duur genoeg,
Of gaf ik hem teveel te doen,
Ben ik een moeilijk mens misschien?

Heeft een kogel zijn kop doorklieft,
Is hij verdwaald of soms verliefd?
Helaas: nooit heb ik hem weergezien.
