Following months of completing important and necessary Fire door updates and installations, we had the pleasure to help a new customer realise their dream of creating bespoke storage and shelving to their frontroom to blend in with the fire place. We chatted with the customer to understand their vision and then undertook the work to help create the units to include an internal shelf to both units and created a shaker style door in a framed unit. As the electrical sockets are now inside each unit, the addition of electrical access covers have been included for keeping cables tidy and accessible with ease. Above each unit the brief was for chunky, floating shelfs which will be painted in the same colour as the units now we have completed the build. We had the pleasure to help this customer make a recently installed stairs safer to use when they had an earlier than expected arrival of their baby. We had to extend the newel posts as the stairs had been installed with short newel stumps. The bottom step had to have 2 complete newel posts fitted and also at the top step. The hand and base rails were fitted using Oak with black metal spindles in between. The quarter turn string was made up of a number of angles and we have been able to make the handrail follow the shape and adds a nice finished height to walk along. The new arrival has now come home and both parents with baby are able to use the stairs safely. MPH Carpentry wish the new family all the best. Please feel free to share and thanks for looking.

We were asked to help make a bay window more practical and installed a seating area with storage underneath. The storage had 3 separate areas and lift up lids that doubled as the seat bases. The entire unit was then painted to match the room. The customer will add cushions to the top to make the seats nice and comfy to use regularly.

We have been busy in the background still working through a substantive list of fire door repairs. We have been able to squeeze in a little kitchen fit this week in a period cottage, the ceiling was starting to sagg and the customer had a steel beam installed to help. We were asked to help hide the beam to look natural and match the existing beam already in place. We have managed a reasonable match to the original beam. The customer has applied a stain to help it blend in completley. We are still working approximately 4 months ahead but if you feel we may be able to help on any projects or plans you may have, please get in touch. Thanks for looking and feel free to share.

Well, as another year comes to a close, it's been an extremely busy year, mainly carrying out Fire Door upgrades following the new law requiring any works on Fire doors to be completed by a qualified person. Mph has been qualified for just over 3 years now but has seen any unexpected rise in people requiring my services to help following Fire door assessments. I am sorry if this has meant we have been a little slow in replying or contacting you, its been difficult to juggle all aspects of the business during this very busy period. I am hoping the next 6 months we will see a return to normal service resuming, and I can offer the level service you have all come to expect and deserve. Thank you for your patience during this period. It means so much to have your trust and for using my company to help convert your requirements into reality. I will try to put more content on of jobs that we have been intrusted to complete next year but this year 1 Fire door is very similar to another. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and great 2025!

Good morning to you all. I am sorry few new items have been posted lately. We have however, been very busy fitting, updating and repairing various Fire doors across Somerset and Dorset

It's apparent that many fire doors in flats that acess communal areas have been needing attention for some years and following the law change in January 2023, they all now need checking and upgrading.

We are https://ukfiredoortraining.com/approved UKFD licensed Fire Door installers and are able tp supply and fit FIre doors
Whilst we are very busy, we are happy to take on more work in this area but will be a few months before new jobs will be completed.

A returning customer asked us to help create a bespoke full size single bed to a difficult space as their daughter needed a larger bed. We constructed a high level bed to overcome the slope from the stairs. The wood used was redwood and all edges rounded to keep hands safe when holding on. A custom removable ladder was made and the whole structure is free standing. The customer is going to finish treatment on the wood once a chosen colour is found. The recipient is very excited to try out her new bed!!
