We see every day how powerful grassroots can be. It's about far more than the game, it's about confidence, belonging, opportunity and community.

None of it happens without the parents, coaches, managers, committee members and volunteers who give up their time week after week, often while fundraising for kits and equipment.

That's why the initiative from is so important. It's helping to ease some of that burden and giving something back to the people who make grassroots football possible.

A big thank you to and the Severn Trent Foundation for investing in local communities and supporting the next generation of players.

As someone whose own journey started in grassroots football, I'll always be grateful for the network of support that helped set me on my way.

🟣 STRIKE9 SESSION UPDATE 🟣

What a fantastic few weeks it’s been across our sessions! 🙌

🏆 Afterschool Football
Our Conway team finished the latest set of fixtures unbeaten with:
🤝 2 x 0-0 draws
✅ 1-0 win

This means we finish 4th in the table with 3 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses and qualify for the next stage of the tournament! 👏

This is a massive accomplishment, especially as most of the children playing have never been part of a football team before. The growth in confidence, teamwork and determination has been incredible to see — we’re so proud of them all! ⚽️

🎨 SEN Sessions
Over the past couple of weeks our children have been getting creative with:
🥔 Potato painting
🌱 Planting activities

The pictures really show how much effort and imagination everyone put into the activities — some brilliant work all round! ✨

And this coming week we’ll be making some delicious Rice Krispy treats! 🍫✨

💬 Older Girls Session – Smithswood
The girls have been taking part in an affirmation workshop, learning how positive statements can help challenge negative thoughts, build self-confidence and encourage self-belief

Alongside this, they’ve also enjoyed:

🖍️ Graffiti colouring

The photos from the sessions really capture the creativity, confidence and positive atmosphere the girls are building together each week 🌟

It’s been amazing seeing everyone getting involved, supporting each other and growing in confidence every session 👏

⚽ Strike9 Football Update ⚽

We’re excited to share some fantastic news from Strike9!

Thanks to support from the MCF Fund, we’ve officially launched our new funded football sessions targeting the Edrington area. Our first sessions this week at St Edmund Campion were a brilliant success, with up to 15 girls getting involved — an amazing start! 🙌 We’re hoping to see even more faces joining us next week as we continue to grow.

We’re also pleased to announce an additional session coming next Tuesday, this time focused on boys. Keep an eye on this space for more details and updates soon!

🏫 Schools Update – Conway Primary

Our coaches have also been busy working with Conway Primary School, supporting their football team in an ongoing schools league. Last night, the team played three fixtures, coming away with two draws and one win — a great set of results!

Even more importantly, there were some excellent performances across the board, showing real progress and teamwork from all involved. 👏

Huge Investment in Our Facilities – Thank You for Your Support! 🙌

We’re incredibly grateful to SIB Group and their Better Youth Spaces Grant for awarding us nearly £31,000 in funding 🙌

This investment is already having a huge impact on our provision, allowing us to significantly enhance our All Weather Pitch (AWP) based at Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club. The funding is helping us create a more inclusive, engaging, and high-quality environment where young people can take part in sport, develop new skills, and build confidence.

A massive thank you as well to Net World Sports for their outstanding support in helping us bring this vision to life. Through our links with the FA, they have also worked with us to match fund the project, enabling us to secure even more equipment than initially planned, as well as brand new uniforms for all of our regular coaching staff 👕👏

As part of this order, we’ve been able to bring in an incredible range of equipment — including 20 sets of goals ranging from 11v11 right down to 3v3 formats, brand new basketball nets for our MRC holiday camps, and some fantastic inflatable pitches that will be used across our Wildcats sessions 🤩

As you can see from the photos, we’ve had such a huge delivery that we’ve actually had to turn one of our classrooms into a temporary storage space just to house it all! It’s a brilliant problem to have and a real reflection of the scale of this investment.

This new equipment will allow us to expand our offer, improve session quality, and reach even more young people across our programmes — with even more exciting provisions already in the pipeline.

We’re excited to introduce our Strike9 Girls Wildcats Football Sessions – a brilliant opportunity for girls to get involved in football in a fun, safe, and supportive environment..

These sessions are open to girls of all abilities, whether they’re just starting out or already playing. Our focus is on building confidence, developing skills, and making sure every player enjoys their football journey.

Building the Future of Community Tennis

MicroSports and Strike9 have launched a new tennis coaching workforce pathway across the West Midlands, supported by funding from the Tennis Foundation. The programme creates a pathway from LTA Activator through to Level 3 Coach, helping local people gain qualifications and lead tennis activity in their own communities.

Last weekend marked the first milestone as 12 aspiring coaches completed their LTA Level 1 Assistant Coach course, bringing energy, commitment and enthusiasm to the court.

“This funding represents opportunity. It gives young people from our communities a clear pathway into tennis, a sport that hasn’t always felt accessible to them. With the right support and mentoring, we can open doors that may have previously felt closed. This is about building confidence, careers and long-term impact.”

From the TV to the Trent! A whirlwind football weekend: ⚽️

⚪️🔵 Frustrating Friday watching Coventry let a lead slip.
🌳Incredible Saturday back at . New manager bounce in full effect with Sean Dyche – a great choice. What a win! 🔴 with a side eye at the results at other games, bcfc running out 4-0 winners against Portsmouth.
❤️Raced home to see my get a massive three points. Back on track!
⚽️Sunday game for Vets called off, so off to watch U14s instead at Moseley Rugby Club. A weekend filled with football at every level!
