txt3.net was founded prior to the invention of Facebook, we were early pioneers in the mobile internet, and offered free SMS via the internet from many different devices. When we realised how popular the site was becoming, in addition to just being able to send SMS, we added the ability for users to message each other directly on the site via usernames or phone numbers, in a very similar way to ho
w WhatsApp works, only we did this years before it was even thought of. Forums were later added, user profiles, ability to send emails and play games, and by the end of the 00's we had become a social network of around 250,000 users. Everything was developed by just one person ''jp" over the course of these years, and for a time the site was profitable due to google ads being displayed on the site. In 2012, a disaster at the data centre meant that we lost all the data and programming for the site, including everyone's profiles, photos, messages etc :(
After a couple of years of it not being online I finally decided to bring it back, and it would be great if all the former users could reconnect one day. For now we are offering UK free SMS, but planning to add international support, there is inter-user messaging, forums and more being added all the time.
