Happy Saturday! Hope you are enjoying the sunshine

The Happy Hedgehog will be taking a short break next week. We will be delivering today and tomorrow (Saturday & Sunday) and then putting our feet up until the following week. Deliveries recommence on Tuesday 22nd April.

Deliveries today took a bit of turn!

An unwell young hedgehog was found in a garden and I was asked if I could help. Sometimes the Hedgie van gets mistaken for Hedgehog Rescue!

I was refilling at the house next door and, with the wonderful lady who had been keeping the hedgehog safe, called The South Essex Wildlife Hospital who advised taking the little hog to their hospital for care.

Thank you to all the customers who understand why their orders were not fulfilled today. A sick animal always takes priority!

Our empties are off on their journey back to Miniml HQ to be washed and refilled, saving at least 80 plastic bottles going into landfill.

If you have some empty bottles at home, hang on to them and head over to our website. Choose what to refill them with from a wide range of great products. All BioD and Miniml products can be poured into your existing bottles. Let's fight the plastic waste together.

If you don't have any spare bottles, we carry a stock of pre-used, sanitized bottles of all shapes and sizes. Free of charge.

We have been making .birtwhistle cream cleaner.

Delphis cream cleaner is excellent. However the bottle is not refillable which has made it difficult for The Happy Hedgehog Family to continue to stock and we have been looking for alternatives.

This cream cleaner was really quick, and satisfying, to make. We stock bicarb of soda. It also uses eco washing up liquid. We stock Delphis, BioD and Miniml so plenty of choice of brands and fragrances! All are UK based, independent and ethical companies.

The cream cleaner also requires vegetable glycerine. Would you like The Happy Hedgehog to stock this too? Let us know so we have all your favourites on the van.

Refills at the fabulous Refill Cabin at South Ockendon Garden Centre today.

Everything from nuts to almond oil. Food and bathroom cupboards filled without plastic wrappings. All served with smiles and interesting conversation. It really is the best way to shop.

started yesterday.

The photo doesn't show the amount of 'other soft packaging' we put in the recycling yesterday. So far we have had 10 pieces of soft packaging and it's only Tuesday morning.

It is so difficult to avoid unnecessary plastic.

We are hoping this count will illustrate the real quantity and unnecessary waste of resources. Plastic has become so embedded in our lives, we often don't register how much we have to dispose of.
