A useful kitchen brief begins with how the room must work.

Consider the rhythms of daily life. Who cooks, where the morning coffee is made, what needs to be stored and which appliances genuinely matter. Look, too, at the architecture of the room and the wider project programme.

You do not need to arrive with every answer. A thoughtful brief simply gives the design process a useful place to begin.

Save these five questions before your first design meeting.

Three thoughtful decisions quietly shaped this kitchen.

The first was the layout. Two islands gently define the different ways the room is used, creating space for cooking and preparation, with a separate place for family and friends to gather nearby.

The second was the balance of materials. Holkham cabinetry in soft Tracery II sits beautifully alongside Sensa Vancouver quartzite, with matt black handles and taps adding a subtle contrast.

The third was the curved island. Its half moon shape and delicate reeded detailing soften the proportions of the room, creating an inviting place to sit and talk while food is prepared.

Practical choices, considered together, have given this kitchen its calm and welcoming character.

Save this approach for your own project planning.

A bespoke kitchen begins with listening.

We take time to understand how you live, the character of the room and what you would like the finished space to feel like. From the initial brief and detailed survey through to design development, manufacture and fitting, each stage is considered and carefully managed.

Ideas are refined together. Materials and finishes are chosen with purpose. Cabinetry is made for the room, then fitted with the same attention to detail with which it was designed.

If you are beginning to consider your own project, arrange a showroom appointment and start the conversation with our design team.

Appliance choices begin to shape a kitchen long before the finer details are considered.

Large 76cm Wolf ovens can be set neatly into tall cabinetry at a comfortable working height. A traditional AGA sits at floor level, creating a natural focal point around which the furniture, worktops and services are carefully planned.

Refrigeration brings its own considerations too, from ventilation and door openings to the space needed between the appliance and an island.

Choosing exact models before the design is signed off allows every element to settle naturally into place. Dimensions, services and clearances can all be thoughtfully resolved, leaving the finished kitchen feeling calm, balanced and beautifully considered.

A kitchen with depth, warmth and beautifully considered detail.

At our Shoreditch showroom, soft Stepping Stone cabinetry is paired with rich Aubergine, creating a darker palette that still feels welcoming. Brushed brass accents bring a gentle warmth, while blackened Buster + Punch handles add just enough definition.

Taj Mahal quartzite flows across the worktops and rises behind the sink, its delicate veining creating a quietly elegant focal point.

Layered, inviting and full of character.

The most generous storage arrangement is not necessarily the one with the most cupboards. It is the one that gives everything a considered place.

For some households, that means a separate pantry for bulk supplies and occasional pieces. For others, a carefully planned larder keeps everyday ingredients close to hand without taking space away from the room.

Additional cabinetry can answer more particular routines, from breakfast and coffee making to serving, entertaining or storing small appliances.

Often, the most effective solution combines several approaches. The starting point is always the same: understanding what needs to be stored, who needs to reach it and where it will be used.

Three decisions quietly shaped this kitchen.

The house had been extended, and the layout needed to bring the original room and the new space together. Rather than disguising the existing openings and structural features, the cabinetry follows them, allowing the kitchen to feel settled within the architecture.

A gentle balance of colour and material gives the room its character. Pale cabinetry keeps the space light, while the deep blue island, warm upholstery and brass details introduce depth and warmth.

The most distinctive piece of joinery is the curved island and fitted banquette. Shaped around the opening, it softens the transition between old and new and creates a comfortable place to sit at the centre of the kitchen.

Thoughtful decisions, each helping the two parts of the house feel like one.

The cabinetry is around 70% installed, and the room is already taking shape.

The next stage is worktop templating, using precise laser measurements to ensure the quartzite is cut to fit the cabinetry exactly. We’re looking forward to seeing the character of this beautiful stone bring the whole kitchen together.

A kitchen should work quietly around the way people live.

Clear routes between cooking, storage and seating allow the room to be shared without feeling crowded. A well placed seat keeps conversation close, but comfortably beyond the main working area. Coffee in the morning, homework at the table and supper taking shape nearby. Each routine has its place.

Good planning begins with considering how the room will be used, hour by hour. The result is a kitchen that feels calm, intuitive and entirely natural to live in.
