Our maple wooden chopping boards are selling very well at the moment so we are adding another style to our range.

This time we are adding a few beech block end grain boards to our website.
These will be slightly more expensive as they take longer to make and a lot of timber is used per board, but did you know that end grain chopping boards are better for keeping your knives sharp compared to long grain boards?
Yet another reason not to use plastic 😂😉👍🏼

I had a chap from Maypoles pop into the workshop yesterday. He is currently working on Tunstall church in Sittingbourne doing some repairs.

He came to collect some ash timber for the bell stays, and whilst loading his van he revealed a damaged wind vein with bullet holes. The story behind it was even more intriguing.
The bullet holes were from a dogfight that happened long ago high above the church leaving the wind vein with bullet holes on both sides.

I bet you would never have guessed that such a simple piece of metal would fire up your imagination to replicate the forgotten dogfight between two enemy planes.
After he left I put my ear buds back on and continued working with a sense of wonder and mystery surrounding the old church and its history.

Here is a waney edge desk that we recently made using European oak.
This chunky oak top was matched with some oak x frame legs.
These were made to match each side of the desk perfectly as one side was wider than the other.
