I’ve always had a thing for old botanical illustrations and the bits of folklore wrapped around them, so I cleaned up a few favourites and added them to the shop as winter prints. They’re digital downloads, simple to print and frame, and they blend in nicely with the furniture work. A small update, a fun one, and it brings a little piece of home into the shop. A few of them are part of a small set I’m calling Yuletide Botanicals.

Veterans Day and Remembrance Day always make me pause. Thinking about the people who serve, who show up, who stand where they’re needed. The ones who don’t ask for attention. The quiet commitment, day after day.

My brother and sister-in-law are both in the service, and I’m so proud of them. Proud of the grit, the steadiness, the way they carry themselves. Proud of the life they’ve built, even with the constant changes and the miles that come with it.

Living between the US and the UK, I feel the weight of both days. Different traditions, same quiet respect. The same hearts doing the hard work.

I’m thinking too about the families. The missed holidays. The waiting. The phone calls from odd time zones. The quiet strength that never really gets talked about.

Just feeling thankful today. For those who serve, and for those who love them while they do.

Morning out here is something else. Thankful for these small, quiet scenes.

My first sold piece, officially settled into its new home. The message they sent afterward meant a lot to me. I’m really proud of this one.

Clean lines, warm oak, and that rich Cappuccino finish from . This one turned out beautifully. The Fusion Stain & Finishing Oil gave the grain so much depth, and the Polyvine topcoat sealed it in with a soft, natural sheen.

I swapped in new brass pulls to complement the tone of the oak. It’s a mix of modern and classic that works anywhere in the home. Easy to style, built to last, and made to be used.

Available now on Etsy through Shropshire Lass Revivals.

This piece is a mystery. It’s solid oak, maybe mizunara, with a soft ripple in the grain and solid brass hardware. I’ve had this for two years and just noticed the tiny export stamp on the back. “Passed Japan – Aichi-Ken Industry Association.”

I’ve gone down every rabbit hole trying to figure out where it came from and who made it, but I still haven’t found another one like it.

If you’ve ever seen a piece with that same mark, or know anything about Japanese exports from late 1800s to early 1900s, I’d love to hear your theories.
