Another lovely bespoke locally sourced larch deck, this time with a little raised bed, gate return & trellis.

In the photos you can see the warm orange the timber turns in the wet in comparison with a paler colour in the dry. Eventually it will turn more silver, but the varied wood grain in each board is beautiful regardless. The usual attention to detail & very high level of finish.

I was very happy to be referred to as an artist by the client - definitely taking that as a compliment!

I'll be back to replace their old gate fairly soon with something more in keeping. That bit is not currently my work.

Great to see a project from earlier in the year bedding in nicely. This one is out in Hope Valley. Retaining larch sleepers & raised beds, sections of patio - and one of our heavy duty steel mesh panel fences with larch posts.

Bespoke raised beds built with larch sleepers. The usual eye for every detail - in this case particularly the rounded tops of the beds, which make all the difference.

A day with a digger and we had the area stripped back and levelled. We then put down heavy duty w**d membrane and limestone crusher, before gravelling the area. Looking forward to seeing the beds filled and planted - & outdoor furniture in place.

Really pleased with this one. Locally sourced English larch bespoke deck, built partly on the original deck frame, which was sound. The larch will last a long time and doesn't need treating, with a lovely and varied wood grain. The old composite boards has become ugly & were disintegrating. They weren't even very old, so the customers wanted something natural instead.

The deck has been given a big extension, the stairs moved & evened out so as to maximise deck space and provide safer access to the rest of the garden for the customers.

A particularly lovely feature is the built in robin box. A deck for bird & plant lovers to really enjoy their garden from.

Always nice to see an old design & build. This is a leaf inspired cantilevered larch deck & pergola which Sam built a few years ago on a previously unused steep bank. It is well seasoned by now and has lost the warm orange that larch has when first installed. This colour can be retained if willing to give the timber fairly frequent doses of oil, but there is no harm in leaving it to turn a more muted silver either.

The Campanula really compliments the fence. Or is it the other way round?
